You've always got a shot. Good game last night, hope Dodgers can even it up.

Why are the Cards not using Shelby Miller as a starter? That kind of is interesting to me.

Also, surprised Leyland didn't have Verlander go out for the 9th the other night to finish it.

I was surprised that Verlander didn't go out for the 9th inning the other night as well, until after the game, when Leyland said that Verlander told him he was spent, but would go out and try to get a 1-2-3 inning. Verlander is a workhorse who never wants to hand the ball over, so if he told Leyland he was spent, he must have been really spent.

Leyland said he didn't want to send Verlander out for the 9th and put a couple of runners on and then put Joaquin Benoit in a tough situation.

Cardinals got lucky today. How do you win in the playoffs when you only have two hits?

Both teams had some amazing pitching early in the game. This has been a pitching story thus far in the series. But has become more about who is making the fewest errors and right now Dodgers defense is collapsing...can't have that happening in postseason play when the pitching is this tough. Great game again today - tough loss for LA but you won't hear an argument from me - I'll take a 1-0 unearned run win anyday against LA.

Everything equal, baseball can come down to which catcher is better - Molina won that battle today imo.

Now I gotta cheer on the Tigers!

He's being overly optomistic, Wacha has another year before he wins Cy Young.

All kidding aside, Kershaw was dealing today.

ESPN seems to be spinning hard on Mattingly's decisions in the past two games...someone needs to kick their writers in the teeth.

Holliday Road for me Homies..

this might be the year I get spoiled with a double double. Last time I was this close as a fan was 2006 when Pittsburgh rolled into town and beat the Broncos - damn I hated that game. 2013 feels much different!!! (Lets go nuggets!!!)

Weird start for Anibal Sanchez.

6 innings pitched, 0 hits, 6 walks, and 116 pitches.

I'd think that will probably be the last inning he pitches.

Sanchez was lucky to get out of that inning unscathed.

I like the way Leyland handled this game so far. Yes he had a no hitter, but an incredibly close/tight game, your pitching has control issues and thrown close to 120 pitches already, gotta take him out and hope the bullpen can close the deal.

There goes the no-hitter....I knew Joaquin Benoit wasn't going to be able to complete it.

Get the damn win now, Joaquin.

The Tigers take the series opener in Boston 1-0.

The no-hitter would have been awesome, but in the playoffs, getting the W is all that matters.

Clinic put on by the Tigers pitching. Those off speed pitches they were dealing were sick. 12Ks and 6 walks in 6 innings...that is production to the extremes.

In '85, the Dodgers won the first two of the LCS at Chavez Ravine. Cardinals won the next 3 at Busch (including the "Go crazy folks, go crazy" game) and then took game 6 back in LA.

So...there's some history there. The Dodgers could do the same thing, in reverse. If they win the games in LA, they'll come back to Busch with their best pitchers ready.

It will most likely go to at least 6 games IMO. But next game up, Cards trot out Wainwright. He has pitched amazing in the playoffs so far. This should be another good game, but I gotta go with the Cards ace here.

So that puts the Cards up 3-0. Going to be hard to come back from that, basically trotting out Greinke twice and Kershaw once to get a good chance.

That was a dumb move to bring Joaquin Benoit in with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th to face David Ortiz.

Joaquin Benoit has been begging to blow a save the last few weeks.

The Tigers were up 5-1 on Max Scherzer's gem....Benoit gives up a grand slam and the score is tied up.

This. Unless they can hit Waino, its a no go for LA. Cards have not even done well hitting the past 2 games due to LA aces. Now LA has a problem, there are only 2 aces in the Dodgers pitching roster. I agree game 3 should go to the Cards.

****ing Pathetic. Watched until the 7th inning. WTF happened? This team had them no hitted in 5 2/3rds inning and was up 5-0.

Should have put them away. I was enjoying the fans looking like Major Downers. Then your team gave them live for the series.

Why did Leyland pull Scherzer? I mean, was he really that gassed? 108 pitches isn't terribly overdoing it. Red Sox had no answer for him. Should've left him in another inning at least.
