Miguel Cabrera has slowed down from his Triple Crown pace.

I think that hip injury took him out of the running.

I doubt Miggy is able to catch up to Chris Davis in HRs....Davis hit his 50th HR on the season tonight.

Miggy is at 43 HRs and I think once the Tigers clinch the division and have their playoff seeding set, they will probably rest him for some more games at the end of the season, if his hip is still bothering him.

It has to be bothering him. He's doing terrible in September, batting .160 with no homeruns and RBI's. He keeps this up Trout just might take him over in batting average and Davis in RBI's.

PHOENIX -- Todd Helton will retire at the end of the season after spending 17 years with the Colorado Rockies and setting franchise records in nearly every offensive category.

The 40-year-old first baseman announced his decision after a 9-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night. Almost fittingly, he had a double in his only hit of the night, the 586th of his career.

Yeah, pretty much saw that coming. If he didn't have the back issues, a lock for the HOF. Now, he's probably never getting in.

Cards are 2 games up with Reds and Pirates entering into a 6 game series. I'm calling it now for the Cards.

NEW YORK -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is Major League Baseball's all-time leader in grand slams.

Rodriguez broke a tie with Lou Gehrig and gained sole possession of the top spot on baseball's all-time list when he hit his 24th career grand slam in the seventh inning of Friday night's game against the San Francisco Giants at Yankee Stadium.

Max Scherzer finally won his 20th game (20-3) on the year and the Tigers beat the White Sox 12-5.

I really wanted to see Max get #20 this season, and he probably only had one more start in the regular season, so it was excellent to see him get it tonight.

This actually was a big piece of why Manning stayed. Stokes living here didn't hurt either.

John McCain is correct on the Dodgers (at least the overpaid part), but as a politician, he should probably shut the hell up.

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers tied the game with an astonishing six-run rally in the ninth inning, then beat the Chicago White Sox 7-6 on Saturday night when Omar Infante hit an infield single with the bases loaded in the 12th.

Infante's grounder deflected off the glove of reliever Jacob Petricka (1-1) with one out, and the Tigers spilled onto the field with Comerica Park in a frenzy. Detroit plays its final scheduled home game of the year Sunday and can clinch a third straight AL Central title with a win and a Cleveland loss.

Trailing 6-0 in the ninth, the Tigers scored five runs before the first out. Pinch-hitter Andy Dirks hit a three-run homer to pull Detroit within one.

Al Alburquerque (4-3) got the win.

The Philadelphia Phillies have removed the "interim" tag on Ryne Sandberg and say he will return as manager in 2014 with a three-year contract through 2016 and a club option for 2017.

I'd like to see baseball flush virtually all current umpires. These confrontational douchebags must think people pay to see them.

Todd Helton is playing well in his last games before retirement.

Nice to him getting hits and going out on a solid note.

There were only 4 milestones for him to reach this season....600 doubles 2,500 hits, 1,400 runs, and 1,400 RBIs.

Helton got to 2,500 a few weeks ago and reached 1,400 runs and 1,400 RBIs within the last week.

600 career doubles would have been nice, but Helton is at 591 doubles and won't reach that milestone.

It's nice to see him retire with the Rox and not jump around to a few different teams the last few seasons of his career. You don't see too many 17 year careers with the same team anymore.
