And will wreck havoc. Lake Tahoe has thousands!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Monster goldfish are breeding in Lake Tahoe Christine Ngai, of the University of Nevada, Reno, was among the researchers who found the first goldfish during a survey of invasive fish in the lake. “You just see this bright golden orange thing starting to float up, and you’re like, what is that? And then you take a net and you scoop it up and you’re like, it’s a goldfish,” Ngai said of the initial discovery. Ngai had heard stories from fishing guides about large goldfish, but they were the first to document the species. “Then when I saw it -- I was like, oh ... it exists," Ngai added. Ngai said the crew was surprised not just to find the fish, but to see how big they are. "It’s not your average-size goldfish. So, you’re like, is that real? Oh, it's real," she told KCRA 3. "It’s alive.” Read more: http://www.kcra.com/news/Monster-gol...#ixzz2LTJM5URF |

Michigan man catches giant goldfish in local lake
Wednesday, January 16, 2013 ![]() DETROIT (KABC) -- Michigan fisherman Mike Martin has landed a very unusual catch: A giant goldfish. Martin caught the fish in a lake near Saint Clair, Michigan. Related Content More: What's Most Popular today? More: Check out the hottest video clips "Basically, I was doing what I always do, trying to catch perch and I thought I had a big perch on," said Martin. "Definitely not a perch." The fish weighs more than 3 pounds and is about 15 inches long. He thought he might have a record catch. But among the biggest fish ever caught in Michigan, goldfish weren't even on the list. Goldfish are notoriously difficult to catch in the wild. "Everybody wants to just dump them out their sea wall and let them be free and this is what they turn into," said Martin. He plans to mount it on the wall of his home. |

Is this for real? They should sell them at Wal-Mart or PetCo.

This is what happens when morons from town come to the mountains and their kids release their pets into the water. As others have stated, goldfish are nothing more than carp. Carp are pretty much the lousiest form of fish, you can't eat them and they will eat anything and everything. As for why other fish didn't eat them first, probably because it only took a few to survive and then the population just explodes.

Around my neck of the woods, we shoot large carp and/or alligator gar with a bow and arrow connected to a fishing reel. At night, with spotlights...
