Jonathan Cooper, North Carolina G—He was praised for his intelligence and maturity. One scout said he is the type of player who can make a locker room a better place.

Darius Slay, Mississippi State CB—He came across as a stand-up young man who is mature beyond his years. One executive said he admired Slay’s accountability and the way he appears willing to do whatever is necessary to succeed.

Manti Te’o, Notre Dame LB—He obviously had a lot to gain or a lot to lose, and Te’o acquitted himself well. NFL front office men praised him for being sincere, upbeat and well spoken. They liked what he had to say about football.

D.J. Fluker, Alabama OT—“He has a big personality,” one personnel director said. “You could tell football is really important to him.” A general manager liked the way Fluker communicated his passion for the game.


DeAndre Hopkins, Clemson WR—Scouts liked how business-like he was, and praised him for his intelligence and verbal skills.

I think people are going to be angry come draft day

Manti seems like a solid starter in the league and leader for the middle of a defense (at least I hope so).

The problem of defending opposing other teams TE has to be addressed somehow this offseason

Te'o won't be able to cover elite tight ends. That's a laughable notion.

not what i said or meant to imply at all. I know he can't do that. I just know that we need to address this problem this offseason

The thing with Te'o is that he's a liability in man-to-man, but he has good insticts in zones coverages. You can scheme around his deficiencies with man-to-man. Problem is, we already have to scheme around our strongside LB (Miller) to give him increased pass rush opportunities. I don't see how we could scheme around for Te'o, too. So, I just don't see him as a good fit with us.

I thought I posted this topic before.. The MLB doesn't always cover the TE. In fact it is usually the Strong or Weak Side LB or the Strong Safety.

I'm not worried about T'eo having to be in a situation where he is man-on-man with a WR/TE -- lol. If he drops into a zone he is more than fine. Made a lot of plays on the ball in the air anyways.

Trufant and Rhodes will probably be long gone.. I see Tampa, Miami, and the Jets if they lose Revis looking for QBs. With Cleveland, Indy, Detroit, Houston as Wildcars..

If Te'o is there, he needs to be the pick.

They sure do! They will drop into a zone and ocassionally play man on a TE.. But they are usually responsible for the RB..

yep, the SAM covers the TE. that's why in most cases teams like bigger guys at SAM. my main thing about MLB's is play recognition, reaction and run support.
that's what we're missing from the MLB position and it killed us against good teams who could scheme against it.

a MLB and a SS solves a ton of issues on this D. of course, so does a DT.

Yeah, i read that yesterday and just laughed. Why anyone thinks that the MLB would cover TE's is beyond me.
Te'o would be an excellent pick at #28, and immediately improve the defense day1.

Why waste the #28 pick on someone who is only on the field 35% of the time?
