Brian Ross takes a break from implying a possible tea party connection to the Aurora shooting by committing a random act of journalism. |

The neglect of our Veterans has been going on for years and it's a national disgrace. Combat related injuries should have the highest priority and need to be urgently addressed.
Too many military families and individuals are now homeless and going hungry after serving their country, they receive little help, except from the communities that have stepped up voluntarily. It's time some of the bloated military budget was spent to help these people, instead of unnecessary weapons systems, Pentagon waste and incompetence. Personnel are our greatest asset, not the military industrial complex profit margins. If this administration is using vets for propaganda purposes and then neglecting them, that's not the 'change and hope' we expect. Fix it, Obama. |

Nidal Hasan carries out Jihad against American soldiers at the direction of Anwar Al-Awlaki. Al-Awlaki was subsequently killed in a drone strike in what was touted as a major victory in the war against Al Qaeda. Yet the Ft Hood massacre is determined to be workplace violence. Makes perfect sense.

Gotta love the right-wing hypocrisy oozing from this thread. No president exploited the troops more than George "Mission Accomplished" Bush. But the knuckle-draggers called you a troop-hating traitor if you dared call his lies into question. Give me a ****ing break.

No, I'm not okay with it at all. I just wonder where your righteous indigation was when Bush cynically sent thousands of troops to their deaths based on lies. Guess you were too busy chanting "USA! USA! USA!" to take notice.

Why do you think the Ft Hood massacre is being labelled workplace violence?

Probably because of some left-wing version of Frank Luntz. That kind of Newspeak is prevalent in politics on both sides (though the right-wing is definitely better at it), and I doubt Obama sinisterly hatched that plan himself. It's a dumb distinction, I agree. Just like "freedom fries," "Patriot Act," etc.

You truly believe there is no political motive by the Obama administration intentionally classifying this specific event as workplace violence?

It's not just a dumb moniker. It specifically harms the victims and their families because it limits their access to care and benefits that would be available to combat injuries. You really should read the article and watch the videos contained within.

What do you call it when a self-proclaimed “Soldier of Allah” shouting “Allahu Akhbar” opens fire on dozens of US citizens — killing and maiming as many innocents as he can? You call it terrorism, if you’re sane. And “workplace violence,” if you’re the Obama administration. That’s right: Three years after Nidal Malik Hasan’s jihadist shooting spree at Fort Hood, Texas, in which he murdered 13 people and wounded 29 more, the Defense Department still refuses to classify the attack as what it is: an act of terror. Instead, it continues to label the shooting officially a case of “workplace violence.” http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion...6EQmoxkv6cROCI |

Even Wikipedia agrees the Fort Hood shooting was not workplace violence.
Nevertheless, the Department of Defense and federal law enforcement agencies have classified this as an act of workplace violence, and has declined requests from families to categorize it as act of terrorism, or motivated by militant Islamic religious convictions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Hood_shooting |

Sarcasm aside, the way the 9.11 first responders, the veterans and victims of terror and natural disasters are being treated is atrocious and a serious blemish on the nation as a whole and its leaders. |
