i didn't see this one coming. i thought they were trying to get DiLeo(which i was kinda like WTF about) it's a good risk to take. he's considered to be one of the top young minds in the game and that's what the Nuggz need.

I had never heard of him but I like the fact he is young and seems smart and very ambitious. So Me not knowing anything at all I like this move from what I read. It seems they are getting a guy striving upward with a good reputation.

WTF do I know though?

I am not sure what you mean by that. Lebron beat the guy and he had to grab a hol dof him. How is that going to be the resounding image of Lebron's postseason?

It was ugly last night.

Ty Lawson & Galinari both 1-8 or something like that...

Still - happy to get the win on opening night.

Sources: Nuggets fire coach Brian Shaw

The Denver Nuggets fired coach Brian Shaw on Tuesday morning, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Nuggets have free-fallen to a 20-39 record in Shaw's second season as coach and have been rife with locker-room issues.

Assistant coach Melvin Hunt will become interim head coach, league sources told Yahoo. The Nuggets play the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.

The Nuggets have lost 19 of their past 21 games, including a franchise-record 10 straight at home.

Shaw's firing comes after the Nuggets broke huddle late in Friday's 104-82 loss to the Utah Jazz by chanting, "1-2-3 … six weeks!" The Denver Post reported the chant was in reference to six weeks remaining in the season. On Monday, Shaw denied that was the players' intent and said they were referencing the team's home losing streak.

Shaw is the third NBA coach to be fired this season. The Sacramento Kings dismissed Michael Malone in December and the Orlando Magic fired Jacque Vaughn last month.

I remember watching Shaw play for the Rapid City Thrillers in the CBA. He was good player.... FOR THE CBA!!!

Maybe they can hire Fat Lever or Alex English or TR Dunn..... Hell, at least they played really good ball in the NBA!!

Please no Danny Schayes (sp) though!!

The guy won with no stars. He's a thousand times better than Shaw. Now that guy deserved to be fired.

Has Josh Kroenke and the GM made a single good decision since they took over?

So the inevitable happens as Nuggets fire Brian Shaw. There was no way Josh Kroenke was really going to do the right thing and fire himself.

Shaw was a bad fit and attempted to demand something the Nuggs could not accomplish.
For Karl the Nuggs roster was a good fit at the time. But it was never going get them to the promised land.
Only a few coaches would be able win with that roster.

Letting Ujiri leave was a bad decision and not retooling the roster when Shaw came aboard was even worse.

They were never going to get to the promised land because they had no stars. It didn't matter who was their coach. Basketball is all about how much elite talent you have, depth and teamwork alone will never cut it.

Problem with the NBA is too many teams and not enough talent. The Nuggets were never going to win it all with Karl. Or anyone. Ever. They can't convince "stars" to come here , so they have to win the lottery when the next hotshot comes out. They suck at the lottery and I doubt they ever win it. So the thoughts and scratching your head hoping that they can put together a championship caliber team is an exercise in futility.

So looking back, we all should have been ok with what this team was. 2 years ago I had fun watching that team. Went to a few games. Enjoyed watching "teamness" climb up and bite "starness" in the ass during the regular season.

Wasn't good enough for Josh though. And now look at that team. He is the Nuggets Josh Mcdaniels. Don't see an Elway ready to walk through that door to save em though, unfortunately.

Yep, to me the NBA is pretty unwatchable if you are a team fan rather than a player fan. Most teams have no prayer until they get lucky and land a big star or two. That means three quarters or more of the league is simply hopeless. That's why the NBA is all about bandwagoners and player fans for the most part.
