I'm just curious where people think we'll end up this week. On many, we were # 2 after the Patriots. Well, we beat the Ravens, and the Pats lost at home. But the Texans won. So.. will be 1st? 2nd after the Pats still? Or maybe the Texans?
I don't put a lot of stock in power rankings really, other than it lets me think what other people think of the Broncos. In my books, they are always # 1. ![]() |

We are going to be #1 in almost every one. 9 wins in a row and we just destroyed the fourth best team in the AFC in their own crib. No one is hotter

I'd bet they put Houston on top. Power rankings are BS in my opinion. I couldn't care less about where they rank Denver.

Some will have Patriots still at top because they came back and made a game of it against 49'ers. Some will have Houston because they're 11-2 still even after getting spanked last week. Some will have us, solid road win against a playoff team and 9 straight wins. 49'ers might even get a few #1 votes. All subjective to opinions. It's fun though.
CBSSPORTS has Broncos rated #1 in AFC as of tonight. Week 15 Judgements: 1. The Houston Texans aren't the best team in the AFC. Denver is. The Broncos are on a nine-game roll, have an underrated defense, a Super Bowl quarterback and a schedule that should make them 13-3 by season's end. Nevertheless, it's Houston that probably gains home-field advantage -- not only because it has a better record but because it holds the tiebreaker with Denver. But don't be fooled. The Texans may get the No. 1 seed, but they're no favorite to win the AFC. 2. The Texans aren't even the second-best team in the AFC; New England is, and there's a 42-14 rout of the Texans to prove it. But Denver and New England probably lock down the second and third seeds, and that's good for Houston ... because it means it only has to face one of them. The good news for Denver is that if all stays the same the next two weeks, it gains the second first-round bye and, if it plays New England, would draw the Patriots at home. 3. .......................http://www.cbssports.com/nfl Last edited by ZONA; 12-17-2012 at 12:13 AM.. |

To be honest, don't care about power rankings, the only thing that matters is who's holding the Lombardi at the end of the season.

Doesn't mean anything, but the Niners or Texans at number one wouldn't surprise me.
One thing I like is with the Niners and Pats primetime games, we have been under the radar the last several games. |

I think they will give the 49'ers the 1 spot since they went to NE and beat NE in December which hasn't happened in 10 years. They also did this after NE totally dismantled the supposed best team in the league.
The Falcons might also get some attention since they beat up the world champs. If I had to guess...I think it could look like this: 1. 49'ers 2. Denver 3. Atlanta 4. NE 5. Houston |

The team that wins the Super Bowl is the only thing that matters.
And 4/5 power rankings would still put not put that team at #1 the week after unless it was the Pats or other nfl royalty team. |

Never cared about power rankings. I just always thought they were worthless.
Do the number 3 and 4 teams in that ranking get a birth in the "Vagisil™ Vegas Bowl"? Playoff seeding? Ok Power rankings? Meh |

Well, they beat the Bears on the road. This argument is so stale. You can only beat teams that are on your schedule. The Seahawks have scored 50 points in the last two weeks. No teams do that no matter who you play. The Hawks and 49ers go at it next week we'll find out a lot more about them then.

As with most, it doesn't mean much.
That said, I do read them every week. I am surprised at people's thoughts. Tomorrow we will be #1 in at least ESPN rankings. We were #2, and NE lost. Bank on it |

Well, these lists are like a-holes. Denver will be #1 on some and they won't be #1 on some. Why do you give more credence to ESPN? NFL, CBS and CNN all have widely read a-holes.....errrrr I mean Power Rankings.

Who the F is this Elliot Harrison guy and why does he get to be on NFL Network? I know it is pretty meaningless to care what some douche thinks is the best team, but this is his top 5 for the week.

Only the Texans and Falcons should be put over Denver right now and neither of them had a 9 game win streak this year. Texans D is in shambles due to injury and didn't the Pats lose to the Cards or St. Louis this year? Hard to put a 3rd seed over a 2nd seed on a 9 game win streak.

Sagarin (which is a statistical model ranking, not an "opinion" ranking) currently has us at 3rd behind NE and SF.
