Default Cassius Vaughn wins AFC defensive player of week honors

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...f-week-honors/

Colts cornerback Cassius Vaughn made the easy play, but he made a bunch of other ones too, and it earned him AFC defensive player of the week honors.

Vaughn’s interception return for a touchdown was made easy for him by Titans quarterback Jake Locker, but Vaughn also had eight tackles and three passes defensed in the Colts’ 27-23 win.

Vaughn becomes the second cast-off corner to win the award for the Colts this year, after Darius Butler won it in Week 10.

Vaughn was acquired in a preseason trade with the Broncos for Chris Gronkowski. The Colts signed Butler in September after he was released by the Panthers.

Well, we still got the better of the trade based on how frequently we use the fullback this season.

In reality,I wonder how many tackles Gronkowski has in ST assignments.

Ive always known we gave up the better player

That said he would prolly be the 5th corner if he stayed

So not really a big loss

How good is Gronkowski running the ball he's a big back who could potentially move the chains on short yardage right?

I wonder if Tony Carter is going to get lit up in the playoffs.

I've seen absolutely nothing to indicate that we should be worried. He's been rock solid all season long.

It does not matter if Vaughn won any award. It was a dumb trade from the start, it was pretty obvious just by comparing the value of each position and the upside of each player.

Not that big of a deal, he'd be buried on this depth chart.

Cassius was an archenemy of Caesar Elwayus, and brother in law to Josephus Brutus Ellis. Caesar Elwayus exiled Cassius to Indianapolis.

You never know when you'll need to put your next CB on the field, especially today when the offenses play with so many receivers. I'd rather have Cassius Vaughn than Omar Bolden as an emergency option, by far. If Chris Gronkowski were a good FB, it would be understandable, but he can't block. He must be afraid of injuries because he is very soft at the point of attack. "Bronkowski" has already been nearly removed from the offense and the coaches put him on special teams to make him at least a bit useful.

he's was at best our 5th CB, he likely wasn't going to make the roster and it allowed others to grab spots and step up.

if he wins defensive player of the year or becomes a multiple pro bowl player then i'll question the trade. we had a need, Indy had a need and it helped both teams lose a player for nothing.

OH NOES... we didn't get enough in exchange for a player we were going to cut. Gronkowskis keep tearing this team apart!

My.

God.

Freaking drama queens. We're 10-3, have our division wrapped up, and we're losing our sh*t over a depth trade for a player who wasn't going to make the final roster? So he won a player of the week. Big freaking deal. History is littered with players of the week who aren't even in the NFL two seasons later. Vaughn was ok. Seemed like a nice guy. If Harris and Carter were playing poorly you'd have an argument even. They're not. They're both better than Vaughn.

It's like the decade of mediocrity has left some people with a pathological need to be negative about something. Just stop.

I agree, it looks like Denver got screwed, but hell you cannot win every trade and every signing. Elway has done VERY well in what he has done the last two years so I am not worried about this at all. Congrats to Vaughn and the Colts.

Didn't Vaughn have some character issues? Anyway, I am not going to dwell on this.

Not that I know of
He was a much better player than our Gronk
That said he would of been buried in the depth chart here

I do agree with the above though that "sticky man" has not been as sticky as of late

It's actually probably more of a neurological pathway but yeah, it probably exists.

Peyton wanted Chris Gronkowski so Elway got him.

Might even have been part of the agreement when Peyton negotiated what it would take for him to sigh with Denver.

Vaughn was involved in the Perris Cox incident. Not sure if that had any part in the decision to trade him but Denver has Porter sitting on the bench who won it in week one so where does Vaughn fit in?

Good for Cassius. He stepped in front of a two yard pass but Harris is playing at a Pro Bowl level week in and week out
