Well, basically... I've mentioned this a lot, but Jindal is going to be the GOP nominee in 2016. Its why he didn't run this year. I don't agree on policy obv, but actually kinda like Jindal, his positions are far right to get through a primary, but he's actually sane & human. And he doesn't need a fake spray tan to try and appeal to minorities. What do peeps think of him, and what do peeps think his chances are? And who is going to be the Dem? |

Some people say Hilliary but after the debacle in Lybia I doubt it.

Libya is only relevant to whackjobs. She has the nomination if she runs, but I don't see her or Biden going for that spot.

I'm guessing that there is not a single issue on which I would agree with Jindal, so

Jindal is a pretty bright guy and accomplished, but he's a little too far to the right on social issues. He's going to have a tough time selling himself to moderates and will have problems with women voters. An interesting candidate, though, albeit not my preference.
My preferred candidates are 1. Jon Huntsman- Still the best all-around candidate. Very good record on job growth and fiscal discipline, moderate on environmental and social issues, experienced and sensible in foreign affairs. 2. Mitch Daniels- Good budget guy, solid all around candidate. 3. Jeb Bush- His brother really ruined it for him. He should have been the second Bush president. It will be tough for him as Dems will tie him to W. even though that's quite unfair. Good sensible moderate and accomplished two term governor, and credible on Latino issues (not just because of his wife, either). 4. Lindsey Graham- I've always been a fan of Sen. Graham. He's been at the forefront of trying to propose compromise agreements on really big issues in the Senate for a long time. He can be a wee bit too hawkish in foreign affairs sometimes, but I still find him very acceptable.

I personally think Hilliary ready to retire from big time politics. I don't think she gets a lot of pressure from the party to run.

I don't really care is she does or doesn't jetmeck. But she will be 70 yrs old by then. I just think she has spent so much time in public service that it seems logical she may not have it in her to try and get the nomination. You say she would be a shoe in but thats what everyone thought before Obama ripped her a new one in the primaries.
She may want to run I just see at as a longshot though. |

Great. So we've got four years of a guy trying to make a name for himself by inserting himself into the daily news dialog.
Awesome. Can't wait. This primary **** gets longer and longer.

Campaigning is pretty much a full time gig anymore. Potential candidates are already making appearances in Iowa...

Ugh. This system has got to go. All it does is poison the well on both sides and make it impossible to get anything done.

It does raise an interesting question for the Dems; If not Hillary, who? I don't see many people positioned to take over after Obama. Certainly not Biden. That would be a joke. Elizabeth Warren? I love her, but there is something about women in politics that drives a lot of white, American men insane. Kind of like having an African American in the WH. They just start frothing at the mouth. Most of the old guard of the Democratic Party are just that, old. The Dems don't seem to have any young, up-and-comers like Rubio and Ryan on their side of the aisle.

Jindal too far to the right on social issues, though he does seem more reasonable fiscal issues. I'm not sure he can get out of the primary unless the GOP base has a facelift in the next 4 years. Huntsman would be a good candidate, but he's got zero chance to make it out of the primary unless he pulls a Romney.
As far as the Dems go, I think Hillary is old news. She'll be 69 in 2016 for one thing, and Clinton fatigue contributed to her demise in 2008, I doubt 8 years will help that much. I've always been a Biden guy, but he'll be 73 and doesn't have the rhetorical discipline needed to make it through a campaign. Brian Scheitzer from Montana is an interesting guy if he decides to run. Two term govenor from a conservative state, ran a $400 million budget surplus, and left office with an approval rating well over 60%. I haven't really delved too far into the potential candidates yet. |
