Americans awoke this morning to the news that an iconic American company will close its doors costing 18,000 workers their jobs after labor bosses within the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) organized massive strikes.

Hostess is the maker of numerous well-known and beloved products including Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread.

The BCTGM is affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). The AFL-CIO's boss is Richard Trumka and earlier this year he boasted, "I'm at the White House a couple times a week – two or three times a week."
yep that is what I want from the president..

Make some pastry cream and slather it on a piece of pound cake. Really, people? Is it that difficult?

The pension is a billion in debt and the liberals want to worry about a CEO being paid extra to not quit during bankruptcy. The company just went under. It's nobodies fault but a marketplace that didn't want the products anymore. The days of pensions like the ones this union had are going bye bye though.

liberals think its so easy to run a business and make money. It's risky thats why we tax capital gains less, so when you sell your business and make 10 million you get rewarded for taking a risk. It's also why we need to cut corp taxes.

Amazing that a company can get so far under for Many reasons that Bankruptcy is not even an option.

Obviously poor a management, as well as a morally bankrupt union pressing for more and more.

Now I'm sure many folks were loyal employees and I have no idea how much they made, but obviously more than the bread and desserts made when sold.

Now because of the strike called by the union everyone is out of work.

According to the union demands it must have been like brain surgery to make Twinkies.

Most liberals seem to think money grows on trees or at least that is the perception they give off.

They do not realize that business owners, are not filthy rich. And can afford to give more and more.
Same goes for employees they do not have a clue on the costs of staying in business.

Do not get me wrong some owners/managers are bad folks. But then they rarely stay in business long.

With more and more burden in taxes, employee costs more failures are going to occur. More and more folks unemployed. Who is going pay for their share..

As I said earlier in the thread 18,500 "skilled workers" out of work. Was part of the unions statement.

How much skill does it really take.

Cartoons, apparently, are too articulate for many on this forum.

I think it is funny that only the least articulate posters are so sensitive to pictures. I guess if my point of view could be easily destroyed I would feel the same way. I guess it would feel humbling to get a picture beat down and the best response is "no fair"!

It must be miserable to accuse someone of being clueless and then have your opinion vaporized with humor or simple sarcasm.

Wow. Talk about misreading something and running with it. What I meant was, the people who are running out and buying up these things, like they'll never see them again, are boobs. They're about one of the easiest things on Earth to make, if you like that sort of thing. And the ones you make yourself will be much better and not full of toxic preservatives. If you want to be really cool, you can even get the syringe and inject your little pound cakes, just like the real thing. Are people really this dumb?

Well this certainly became a useless thread. A righty circle jerk sprinkled with a useless LABF comeback. Time to check out for a few more months.
