Ken Salazar yesterday:

Quote:
"After careful consideration of the applicable law and policy, I have directed the National Park Service to allow the permit for the Drakes Bay Oyster Co. to expire at the end of its current term and to return the Drakes Estero to the state of wilderness that Congress designated for it in 1976," Salazar said in a statement. "I believe it is the right decision for Point Reyes National Seashore and for future generations who will enjoy this treasured landscape."

I think the professor in this video has it right, when the environmental movement begins to resort to an almost religious agenda, rather than science, they are digging their own graves. It's like PETA getting so out there that they want to stop fishing. They actually have a solid basis for advocating against the mistreatment of animals, but when you get to the point of saying, "Billy can't sit on the pier with his grandpa and catch a fish," you've gone into nutso land, and your entire movement gets rightfully disregarded, or worse, regarded as comedy. We see it in politics as well. Some of the Tea Party ideas are highly valid. But when they let the zealots and nutjobs become their public voice, the public turns them off. You can see how the Right Wing press machine did that to the Occupy movement as well. Pick the nutjobs in the crowd, interview them, highlight them on your newscasts, and smear the entire movement while smothering the valid message.

I like fienstien her standing up for them is why I vote for her even though she is a democrat. At least she will go against the radical left sometimes.

What do you expect Roh from a man with a radically liberal agenda for conservation. Cattle ranchers have had all sorts of problems with Salazar.

I consider myself an environmentalist. But there are some in the environmentalist movement who I sometimes wonder might not believe that the ultimate solution is the extinction of the human race. Humans are part of the environment too.

A good show would be following around environmentalist to see how clean they really are. I know some here in CA that vote for every govt program or regulation for the environment but then toss paint and oil into regular trash cans or don't pick up trash when they go to the river and ride watercraft. One guy last time who fancies himself a huge liberal. His job is to do environmental impact studies....dump his watercraft oil right into the ground lol. So its easy to vote to be an environmentalist, but in life it takes some work.
