Blame Obama for High Gas Prices?

Written on Monday, October 29, 2012 by David L. Goetsch

A newspaper reporter called me recently to discuss the reasons behind rising gas prices. After I explained the various factors that are increasing your pain at the pump, the reporter asked me if high gas prices going into the November election would affect President Obama’s re-election chances. My first impulse was to say, “Let’s hope so.” But after many years of being quoted and misquoted in the press, I have learned to choose my words carefully. Therefore, I responded that high gas prices just before the election represent a “worst-case scenario for President Obama.”

Fox News has some pretty accurate reasons on why gas prices are high,

Your article contains some spurious facts about the Keystone pipeline, relying on studies given by TransCanada. Independent studies disagree, and find the Keystone Pipeline would increase gas prices across the Midwest,

People in North Dakota disagree with this article. Drilling in Alaska would do almost nothing to improve gas prices. You can drill for all the oil in the world, you still need refineries to refine the oil. The demand for oil has gone way up as other countries have devoloped. Bottom line is, we need to find an alternative fuel source. Drilling in Alaska is a bad idea and is not the answer.

You want less regulations you say, maybe another bubble will crash the economy and gas will go back to 1.25 gallon like it was Jan of 09.

Vote Romney for less regulations, those pesky lack of regulations that crashed our economy.

Gas is supposedly set by supply and demand......BS its mainly deiven by speculators.

But they are a classic example of free market.....righties make up your mind.
Which way do you want it.

Personally I think speculators should be shot.

let them speculate, but dont let them buy anything that they dont take delivery of and store, if they are so confident it will be worth more in a week, fine store it for a week, and then sell it. If you cant do that, you cant buy paper oil and mess things up for everybody.

When Dan's hero GeeDubya was in office, the righties bent over backward to assure us the POTUS had absolutely no control over gas prices - even though Bush and Cheney were both oil men who invited oil companies to write America's energy policy.
