Default Romney wants FEMA dismantled

Romney on FEMA,
Quote:
Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better.

All you moochers receiving your free helicopter rides on the 53%'s dime, bah! Tagg and Bean are going to have to pay for that someday!! We need to privatize, obviously.

"This rescue ration biscuit is brought to you by Comcast Disaster Services(TM), the lowest bidder for your safety."

If elected, RobMe will most likely appoint another "Heckuva Job Brownie" head of FEMA.

Maybe he'll offer the job to his dancing horse trainer as a patronage perk.

Republicans make the biggest noise about federal bailouts and subsidies, and then they're always first in line when the **** hits the fan, with their hands out. I'm telling you, it's that Right Wing amnesia. They spend like drunken fools when they have government power and the second they're out of power, they completely forget who created the deficit. Suddenly, debt and deficits (which they never mentioned while in power) become really important, and it's all the other guy's fault. Sociopathic hypocrisy.

Trust me. If Romney gets elected, he'll bankrupt the U.S. government and in four years the righties will be blaming it on Obama.

ahhh medi-vac is privately owned. Biggest company is a place called Air Methods... based right here in Denver. Over 340 aircraft and thats before they merged with OmniFlight.

Romney's current budget would cut FEMA by 34 to 54%. Here's how a state-run FEMA would impact the economy,

"If a storm damages basic physical infrastructure (power lines, bridges) and imperils human life it would be the height of penny-wise, pound-foolish thinking to suppose that the afflicted area should wait months or years to repair the damage. Ultimately, anyplace is going to go back to robust wealth creation faster if basic stuff gets fixed up faster. But that requires financing by an entity capable of rapidly financing expensive projects—i.e., the federal government. Left to its own devices a storm-ravaged Delaware or Louisiana is going to be squeezed between balanced budget rules and falling sales tax receipts and be forced into an increasing state of dilapidation."

http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/...fema_cuts.html

Not to mention that it's morally reprehensible to watch disaster strike other Americans and do nothing about it.

And when a state's economy is spun into depression due to the disaster, what then? Turn on CNN and watch Delaware starve?

When a state is hit by an earthquake, hurricane, or terrorist attack, I say all Americans come together and help.

Joplin, MO qualified for FEMA, and even they got stiffed. Some of their frozen funds were sent to the east coast after Hurricane Irene.

Disaster Relief

When disasters strike, Walmart, Sam's Club and the Walmart Foundation work together to respond quickly. Working closely with experienced disaster relief organizations like the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, the Walmart Foundation focuses on providing immediate and life-sustaining needs such as food, water and shelter. Our in-kind donations for disaster relief are made possible through Walmart's logistics expertise and resources; by transporting critical supplies quickly and efficiently to those affected by disasters, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are able to help communities kick-start the recovery effort.

Community Giving

Our communities support us every day. In times of crisis, we want to focus our efforts on making a difference in helping restore normalcy.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are committed to providing life sustaining support in the aftermath of disasters. The Salvation Army and American Red Cross are Walmart’s strategic partners for disaster relief. When disaster strikes, we include members of each organization in our Emergency Operations Center, which helps maintain an open channel of communication to better understand the needs of affected communities.

i forgot how that evil corporation run by rich people are helping out during disasters.
Obama should tax them 100% more .btw during 9-11 star bucks helped too they did not charge firefighters for water

I'm thankful Obama has worked to make FEMA a serious branch of the government. Here's hoping the recovery goes smoothly and people are kept safe.

repugs will eliminate/starve every program they don't like.
they will also centralize and enlarge every program they do.

we need to send all registered Rs and Ds to mandatory reeducation camps.

FEMA is only engaged when the area is declared a natural disaster by the President or requested and approved by the State's governors. It mission is support those emergencies that states or localities can not solve with their own resources.

I'm surprised Mitt can't find money for FEMA when he closes the "loopholes"

Good Hurricane Sandy wire here,
