Parker, and a solid draft class.

In the NBA you are either at the top or rock bottom. Nobody gives a **** if you make the playoffs and bomb out. Just the way it is.

Boston can also swap picks in 2017. Boston made the right move for their franchise. And the picks could be outstanding. Nets are gambling on now and it could burn them into the ground on down the road. Now is Rondo/Green next to move?

They are lucky. Had their choice to pick anyone in this draft. Now, overall a total weak class. But, hey they had their choice amongst available. Just don't expect the top pick next year when it really matters.

I didn't think much of it at the time, but in retrospect you have to love what the Sixers did:

Quote:
But really: How did the Sixers pull that off? We knew Sam Hinkie was an evil genius, and that's the only reason this isn't higher on our "WTF" scale. Not only did Hinkie land two freak-of-nature athletes with all kinds of potential Noel and Michael Carter-Williams but he got rid of good-but-never-great Jrue Holiday and pretty much guaranteed Andrew Bynum isn't coming back and got New Orleans to send Philly a first-round pick in 2014's outrageously loaded draft. The pick is top-five protected, but still.

The Sixers went from a mediocre team stuck in no-man's-land to a team in perfect position to rebuild. They'll be awful next year, but that's the point. Next June they'll possibly have two lottery picks, and then come into 2015 with what should be a ridiculous collection of young talent. Remember when everyone was positive the Sixers were going to get stuck with Zeller or Adams? This outcome is 10,000 times better.

Wow a team is offering Dwight Howard his own freaking show so he'll stay in town.

The guy really isn't worth that much trouble IMO.

the Lakers are ****ed beyond belief without Dwight. they literally cannot replace him if he bolts. they're already in the tax and would have 2.3 mil to spend to replace him.
they'd have to deal Gasol + to get improvements on that roster and Kobe would be pissed to be in another rebuild.

banking on signing Kevin Love in 2014.

They should let Dwight go, trade Pau for picks, tell Kobe to take the year off, and maybe they'll win the Wiggins lottery.

they could do all that and still not match how bad Orlando and Phoenix are likely to still be. then there's Charlotte,Atlanta,Boston and Sacramento.

even with that. the Lakers fans would revolt if they tanked the season. it would be enough to get Jim Buss removed as managing owner and get Mike D fired.

Look at what one injury to a star player can do for a franchise, as in the Spurs.
Spurs were a good team with David Robinson, he gets hurt, they basically tanked a season due to it as they couldn't handle it without him, get Tim Duncan, and a basis for a championship team.

Side note, I don't understand all this hype for a team signing Greg Oden.

Also, I don't see the love for Dwight Howard. Yeah, he's a good player, but it seems people like to talk him up when I just don't think he has that much of an offensive game. Plus he seems to battle foul trouble fairly frequently.

I wouldn't call Oden hype. But, there's potential he could sign with a team on the cheap and deliver 20 minutes a game. Miami is a perfect situation for him. It will allow him to play x amount of minutes, play in the playoffs, then possibly secure a huge longterm deal.

Lakers will not be very good if Howard walks. Gasol, Nash, Metta, Kobe I can't see them just tanking it. But, they could be flipped before the Nba trade deadline.

It's been hard for Oden to play 20 mins in an entire season let alone games. I just don't see him staying healthy at all. Like a B Roy type ending. It's basically a minimal risk for the heat to kick the tires though. As long as they don't intend for him to be the only big they look at.

well well, Iggy to the Warriors for 4 years and 48 mil. the Warriors trade Biedrins and Jefferson to Utah for the cap space to sign him.

Iggy turned down more money from the Nuggets, obviously sees what the rest of us do too. **** franchise going nowhere fast.

No big loss here...60 million is too much for him. But it is kind of sad still that NBA players look at Denver as a terrible place to go even when we had Carmelo. Football players seem to fall over themselves to come here and often times end up retiring here while other sports are like eh.

well... it's a poorly assembled team. you have a ton of assets and pieces but no real star. Lawson is good but he's not a superstar and never will be.
and what i mean by poorly assembled is that you have redundancies in positions, C,PF,SF,PG and yet no one really gets a ton of PT or stands out.
until a player sees that and knows they will have a defined role this will continue to happen.

Cavs signed Earl Clark. He is expected to compete for the SF job. Championship.
