Yep, the team with the best percentage in giveaways/takeaways is generally the one that ends up in the SB. A large part of that percentage is the TA by the defense but our offense also needs to stop giving that ball up...DT!

Its all about match ups and Denver d does not match up well against the Pats, Packers, falcons or Saints. Big Te's and no huddle .

I think his point is that the season isn't over yet.....sure, we're 2-3...but when you look at the schedule we've faced, it's not unexpected.

Few if any thought we'd finish better than 11-5 or 10-6 with most of our losses coming in first half of season.

The defense hasn't played as well as we would have hoped, but then again the offense has been a hindrance too by turning the ball over more than they should. Hopefully the offense will continue to progress and reduce their turnovers, and the D will create a few turnovers of their own and we'll make the playoffs and win a few games there too.

They need to keep the Seattle game on tape. Apparently that's a real defense that is smart. They adjusted to the pats offense. they were smart enough to figure out what was coming. Seattle D is strong

That's awesome that's what you read into it, but it's definitely not what he said. This thread is trying to justify the defensive performance by showing the quality of opposing offenses we've faced... while ignoring that more often than not, we've been a team opponents have been padding that average on.

Scheme looks a little different, It's the lack of talent. This team has 3 legit playmakers on defense and 8 other starter guys. Wolfe, Harris, Jackson, Quinton Carter and Bolden have the potential to become something, but right now the defense goes as far as Von, Doom and Champ can carry it.

That's about the size of it. That's the one stat that is constant year after year after year. The top turnover ratio teams make the playoffs, and the top turnover ratio teams win in the playoffs.

We looked pretty good the first couple games, even though we couldn't stop pitt on any 3rd downs. The tackling was much better and against atlanta our D kept us in that game until Manning got pissed off. Against HOU our D took a nap in the first half and part of 3rd quarter. Can we give some credit to the defense now? They played a terrific game against the Chargers.

When Denver starts playing offenses that are not in the top 5 in the league they will do very well. Once the offense gets leads this team will be very hard to beat because Denver can turn their pass rush loose.

Bronco fans are way too used to blaming the defense for everything. It's going take a while for them to recognize that this defense is actually fairly good.

For as down as people are on the defense they are currently ranked #11 in the NFL.

They fact is defenses across the NFL just suck.

I have no doubt Denver's defense will be top five by the end of the season.

The thing with our defense, is we have a strong pass rush. We are tied for 5th in the NFL in sacks, 11th in yards passing. Pass defense IMO today is more important than having a strong run defense.
By the way, for run defense, we are only giving up on average 3.7 ypa, which is top 10 in the NFL.
As long as we stop fumbling the ball so freakin much, we'll be in good shape.

I agree, and what Denver needs is not on defense it is on offense. If Peyton could drive down and get 1st quater points than the defense can start being more aggressive.

If the offense starts scoring in the 1st quarter Denver's defense will look much much better.
