Denver ranks 13th in total defense even after playing 3 elite offensive teams.

Baja - what's really important is that after 5 games we are 2-3.

It is what it is.

This team coulda won every game it's played in. But it hasn't. We are 2-3 looking up at the 4-1 Chuggers. In no way have I given up on this team, our schedule has sucked, but good teams rise above. The Broncos have 11 more games to rise above. I have faith.

To me the numbers show we are a much improved team over last year that has played a very tough schedule.

Whats the turnover differential? That will explain why we are 2-3.

The Chargers are one game ahead of us. They're 3-2.

Just saw it. -6. Looks like 27th in the league. At least we aren't Kansas City, who is -15 through 5 games.

The turnovers are absolutely KILLING us. Plain and simple, we need to take care of the ball.
Two turnovers cost us at minimum 6 points, probably 10 points, and another lead to a shortfield for the Patriots and they scored a TD.
Falcons, we had 4 turnovers in the 1st quarter and fell behind big.
We take care of the ball and we will be fine.

We have played arguably the two best teams in the AFC, the 5-0 Atlanta Falcons, a good team in the Steelers and of course the bottom feeding Raiders.
We need to win next week though, starting 2-4 will be very hard to overcome. 3-3 puts us in 1st place in the division and on the right track.

Yes, as a Mormon, I have never known or heard of anyone drinking before, during or after a football game - including a loss - nor have I ever witnessed someone making an error when they were drunk on this board.

Import Stat - we play horrible till 3 quarters..No change from last year..
It's just that we are unable to overcome the deficit this year(ie., we are not lucky this year).

All we had to do was score more than 31 points and we got Peyton Manning.

I would argue all we needed was 1 fewer fumble, and 2 tackles on the 2 longest 3rd down conversions. Pretty thin line actually.

Manning is completing 66% percent, has not thrown an INT in 4 of 5 games and his current rating of 101.2 would be the third highest of his career.
He is already playing at a very high level. I think the presumption that he will improve over the year is no longer operative.
The improvement is going to have to come from other areas

This.

Supporting cast doesn't have a championship talent level, but crazier things have happened. Some growth from the young guys and we could compete with anyone in the post-season.

Exactly.. when the schedule came out it was a know fact it was the 2nd toughest schedule in the NFL. Many people with 'orange glasses' had the Broncos going into the bye at 3-3 that would be best they could do.

Well guess what.. the Broncos have a chance to be 3-3 going into the bye.

The back end of the schedule is coming up.. if the Broncos can play the way they have against some of the 'best' teams in the league, they have some very winnable games.

The concerning thing is that most of his numbers are coming late in games down multiple scores.

The jury's still out on what causes the super-slow starts (turnovers, gameplan?) But needless to say, had the Tebow Broncos gone until 1 minute left in the 3rd with 7 points on the board against the Pats, many of these sudden rationalizers would've been going ape****.

I agree going into the bye 3-3 isn't so bad considering the teams we have played... we need to get this defense right and stop the mistakes such as fumbles. I believe we still have a shot at 10-6 and winning our division. SD is a MUST win for us, the Broncos better play like it Monday night.
