If it is courtney what is the trade? please god not our #24 pick. Courtney is not a FA. Please let it be Gardner or Deltha.

It's Courtney. I've been reading about this on those horrible ESPN boards. Browns are looking at Ekuban. If they decide to sign him, that would leave Courtney free.

Ya dig?

This is silly.

Are we looking at Courtney Brown, the oft injured DE for Cleveland or Orlando Brown the OT for Baltimore who used to play with Cleveland?

I read through every post and still have no clue which player we might be looking at.

There is no other "Brown" on the Browns but Courtney.

2004 6000000.00
2005 6500000.00
2006 7500000.00

That equals new deal if he comes to Denver.

2000 CLE 16 16 69 61 8 4.5
2001 CLE 5 5 21 14 7 4.5
2002 CLE 11 11 42 32 10 2.0
2003 CLE 13 13 38 30 8 6.0
Total 45 45 170 137 33 17.0

The guy has never lived up to his potential, hopefully it's nothing earlier than a 3rd if they deal for him.

That coaching staff in Clev is gawd awful, Courney has the talent and has never played next to someone with Pryce's ability. Could be a real nice pickup.

I just heard on ESPN that some guy named Smith, who either plays safety or WR, might sign with the Giants or the Broncos. He used to play for the Cards or the Bucs...or he might have said some CFL league. I'm not sure. I'll keep you posted.

The guy has bad knees. He has talent, but his knees are shot. He cannot make it through a full season anymore.

Isn't Orlando Brown like 50 years old with a bad attitude? I hope it's either Chad or Courtney Brown. I think the Broncos are getting really desperate if Ekuban and Orlando Brown are top of their free agent pickup list.

IN DEC
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns lost defensive end Courtney Brown and three other starters to season-ending injuries during their loss to the St. Louis Rams.

Brown, the former No. 1 overall pick whose NFL career has been slowed by serious injuries, ruptured his right biceps tendon in the second quarter Monday night.

#92 Courtney Brown - Cleveland

Ht: 6-5 Wt: 270 40: 4.52
Position: DE
Date of Birth: 2/14/1978
Experience: 4
College: Penn State

Top pick in the 2000 NFL draft, generally thought not to have lived up to that billing due to injuries... Has shown flashes of tremendous ability... Was having best season of career in 2003 until injured against the Rams... Placed on IR 12/9/03... Plagued by injuries in 2002... Started 11 games, registering 41 tackles and 2 sacks, missed other five due to injury... Required microfracture surgery on his knee and lengthy rehab after 2002 season... Started five games in 2001, missing other eleven games due to knee and ankle injuries... Had an incredible game against Chicago in 2001 with seven tackles, three sacks, and a fumble return for a TD... Started all sixteen games his rookie year, registering 85 tackles and 4.5 sacks... Three sacks and nine tackles against Pittsburgh on 9/17/00... Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after that effort... Eleven tackles against Tennessee final game of his rookie season.

Is that his base salary or cap figure? He might be all right if some of that is signing bonus the Browns have to pay off.

I wouldn't mind giving him a shot with an incentive laden contract and a 2nd rounder. The price seems steep, but even last year the guy was able to dominate games when not injured. Pair him up across from Pryce where he won't be doubled and I think he could do a great job for us.

Knees are shot, that worries more than all the other injuries. He will go through a stretch when he will look great and then get injured or just not be a factor in games. We need a guy in there we can depend on, not a guy we pray can make it through every game.

I hope its not a 2nd for a guy coming off IR.

We better not give up anything for the guy. I only want him if Cleveland cuts him. Cleveland wants him to restructure and he has been balking at that.

This is what ole Butch had to say about a year and a half ago:

Browns | Staying Put - from www.KFFL.com
Sat, 28 Sep 2002 10:13:21 -0700

Updating ongoing stories, Mary Kay Cabot reports for the Cleveland Plain Dealer Cleveland Browns coach Butch Davis said once again, DE Courtney Brown is not being traded or released. "I told Courtney, Let me tell you something. [A trade] is the furthest thing in the world from the truth,'" Davis said. "There's no foundation, no shopping, no investigation.' "I love Courtney Brown. He's a great kid and he plays good. I can't envision a scenario where he's traded or cut."

I didn't realize Cleveland was thinking of cutting him. How about we throw Deltha O'neal in that direction? The Browns could use a receiver and a corner. The new double threat in the NFL.
