The U.S. unemployment rate unexpectedly fell to a near four-year low of 7.8 percent in September, the lowest since President Obama took office. Most economists were expecting a slight rise, so the number has raised suspicions that the White House might be cooking the books ahead of the election next month. Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electric, quickly came out with a tweet, voicing his suspicion. On his Twitter account he accused the Obama administration of manipulating U.S. employment data for political advantage. “Unbelievable jobs numbers…these Chicago guys will do anything…can’t debate so change numbers,” said Welch, 76 and a Republican. “No, there’s nothing at all curious about the last jobs report diving to 7.8 percent unemployment before the election,” said Keith Urbahn, Donald Rumsfeld’s former chief of staff. (To be fair, not all GOP members felt something underhanded was going on. As former Bush White House aide Tony Fratto put it, “BLS is not manipulating data. Evidence of such would be a scandal of enormous proportions & loss of credibility.”) http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/business...-jobs-numbers/ |

It's nice to see the rate break the 8% mark.

not going to bother reading the thread, because we all know there is a dumocrat circle jerk going on..
but let me add.. Who does this department report to? That is correct nobama appointments.. Does anyone want to venture a guess, that they do not want to lose their jobs. Does anyone else think for that past God only knows it has been at 8% or higher, massaging the number up a bit, might be happening? Anyone wanna bet there is an adjustment to this right after the elections? When it is, it will not be down.. Ponder that I'm going to go back to my Sons of Anarchy marathon.. And the ADP data, did Obama manipulate that too??
Seriously, can't some of you think beyond your devotion to party?? The ADP National Employment Report September 2012 Report Employment in the U.S. nonfarm private business sector increased by 162,000 from August to September, on a seasonally adjusted basis. The estimated gains in previous months were revised lower: the July increase was reduced by 17,000 to an increase of 156,000, while the August increase was reduced by 12,000 to an increase of 189,000. Employment in the private, service-providing sector expanded 144,000 in September, down from 175,000 in August. Employment in the private, goods-producing sector added 18,000 jobs in September. Manufacturing employment rose 4,000, while construction employment rose 10,000, the strongest since March when mild winter weather was boosting construction activity. The financial services sector added 7,000 jobs in September, marking the fourteenth consecutive monthly gain. Here, educate yourself. http://www.adpemploymentreport.com/ |

This isn't hard to understand. Quote:

We're likely going to see a very strong October and November for UE%. This is why jobs gained are seasonally adjusted. So that the market doesn't see a -1.5M every Feb and a bunch of +500K for Oct/Nov/Dec. This is the problem with America. Too many of you ****ers don't understand basic economics, law, or business yet you trumpet a capitalist imperative you have no understanding of. You are literally cows being led to the slaughter house thinking "man, I bet where ever these guys are leading us is going to have lots of tasty hay to eat!" Quote:
In fact, the Obama admin is the only time in recent history where public sector jobs numbers have shrunk in any significant way. So all the "kill gubmint in da bathtub!" rants by Reagan and the GOP since has been nothing but bluster while they have rapidly grown the size of gov't, far faster than their democratic contemporaries. Quote:
Obama can lose every other swing state but Ohio and Florida and still win. He's had a sizable edge in Ohio for a month now, including two weeks in which early voting was open. Romney's spin doctoring failed to safeguard him from his biggest weakness in Florida - medicare. The Obama campaign is already rolling out a new Romney anti-medicare ad statewide in Florida, this while having held a moderate lead up to this point in the state. This is why Obama didn't respond to Romney's "$716B robbed from Medicare!" claims. He didn't want to give any new ad footage that could be selectively edited. Romney gave an absolute ton of new footage that needs very little editing, just framing side by side with previous Romney statements, to paint him as a flip floper willing to say anything to get elected. |

There are two freaking programs that should have been past that would both benefited the nation and got better employment result that neither side is talking about.
1. Infrastructure renewal - it time to recapitalize Eisenhower interstate program. To many crumbing roads and bridges 2. Private/Public partnership to create a smart power grid. The government should be offering low interest long term loan and grants to states and the power companies to create the next generation power generation and distribution system |

Yeah, when Obama lies, it's just broken promises. The biggest lie of is not raising taxes on anyone making less than 250,000 when have seen them rise already with food and gas and just wait until Obamacare starts. Even more taxes on everybody. Some states right now are looking at 5 bucks/gallon for gas. Jimmy Carter days here again.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/01/bu...trol.html?_r=0 Here is why: Oil is a global market in which America is a big consumer but a small supplier. We consume about 20 percent of the world’s oil but hold only 2 percent of the oil reserves. That means we are, in economics jargon, “price takers.” Domestic production has increased during the Obama administration, but it has had minimal effects on global prices because, as producers, we are just too small to matter much. And even if domestic oil companies further increased production, they would sell to the highest global bidder. If you’re not convinced by economic theory or the opinions of economists, consider some recent history. Presumably, no one would call President George W. Bush unfriendly to the oil industry. Yet the price of gasoline rose steadily during most of his administration. In February 2001, just after Mr. Bush took office, the average price of regular gasoline was $1.45 a gallon. By June 2008, that price had risen to $4.05. Still think presidents and oil-friendly policies can determine oil prices? |

Ever hear the one about how Romney liked to dress up like a cop, had a flashing light on his car, and liked to pull people over?

This is DESPERATION and IGNORANCE on your part and your schtick is getting way old. You just want to win regardless if the country is being hurt by republican obstruction. UNEMPLOYMENT RATES WOULD BE MUCH LESS IF THE REPUBLICANS WERE NOT BLOCKING EVERY JOBS BILL. Republicans are the first to b**** about jobs and then they obstruct every jobs bill. Stimilus is done after recession by every president.....this was a very very bad recession and needs more stimilus than was applied. Yes more stimilus would have resulted in a better, stronger economy with more jobs. How do I know ? Because history shows it is true. Just because Republicans spent all the money on stupid wars and stupid tax breaks for the rich doesn't mean we should curl up in a ball and say everybody for themself like republicans want to do. I challenge any of you clowns to respond to this. |
