The next step before construction can begin, potentially next spring, is to convince an NFL team -- or maybe two -- to move.

No no no NO!

I could see Kansas City looking for a money grab. The new owner, Lamar Hunt's son has no interest in football and could either sell the team or just pull a Modell.

Why are they so set against adding another franchise to make 33 or even 34. San Antonio and Vegas could easily host a team. Toronto, London, Portland as well. I wouldnt be so sure that its gonna be SD though. Jacksonville, Buffalo and definitely St Louis who has an out in their dome agreement could move. Either way, i just hope they give the team a cool new name. Falcon, Panther, Jaguar.. those names stink.

how the eff is there a team in jacksonville...

I'd like to see the chargers stay where they are.

Move the Rams back, and still stay in the NFC West.

I think Jax is a strong possibility. Their stadium sucks and the people care more about the Gators/Bulldogs there.

Forgive me if I don't know the demographics of some of the colleges that are seemingly in the middle of nowhere but draw 100,000 to every game, but it seems to me that if teams like Green Bay and Buffalo can support an NFL team, Lincoln, Stillwater, and some of those other places could, as well.

Not to mention teams like Oakland, San Diego, Jacksonville and Miami who are located in huge cities and never sell out.

the Rams make a lot of sense, as do either the chuggers or the faiders. I guess the jags could move but then you'd have some re-alignment issues. Who do you move to the AFCS? Which team do you move out of the AFCW? Perhaps kc moves into the AFCS?

Well, number one, it wasn't really an argument, per se, so much as a question on why somewhere like Lincoln wouldn't work, but Jacksonville would.

Number two, Jacksonville and Miami are both huge metro areas, and while their NCAA teams draw quite well, there's a lot more to do in either of those places than watch pro football. If you haven't noticed, professional sports don't do particularly well in Florida, period. Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa are all not all that great when it comes to attendance (at least in MLB and NFL. I don't follow NHL or NBA).

But then you have teams like GB and Buffalo who do fairly well compared to population size...I think there's something to be said for having a secluded, but rabid fan base.

Nebraska would never go for a pro football team.

I think he was implying that Jacksonville (Gators/Bulldogs) and Miami (Hurricanes) are huge college football towns, which is the reason why the pro teams do poorly.
