Adam Schefter popped on ESPN this morning and dropped a whopper. He says even though those two have not been fined yet, they will.
It was so bad the NFL called down to the field during halftime and told them to stop it! Found the article: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/84...se-source-says Last edited by GreasyQtip; 09-23-2012 at 08:01 AM.. Reason: article added |

![]() For some reason I find it hilarious. I mean, the first challenge of the night was for a silly flag challenge when the ball was clearly tipped. The second was when Fox clearly believed he actually only had 11 for some reason. With most crews, he'd be assuming they were right and figuring out what happened. These crews were such garbage that he just assumed they messed up something else. So everytime they blew a call, he had no challenges because they were blowing too many calls. Infuriating^Infinity |

On what grounds are they being fined? This is hardly the first time a coach has lit into referees. This seems like more of Goodell being Goodell.

The league should watch it with trying to get involved during the course of the game. Especially considering they've created the mess. It could easily be construed as their trying to have an impact on the outcome of the game. Which opens another pandora's box re: fixing games and what not. They already had to pull one guy who proudly displayed his fandom. Perhaps things wouldn't have gone so poorly if they hired guys who actually understood the rules, and ****ing pay attention during the game. All officials in all sports are terrible, but these guys have really taken ineptitude to Chiefs like levels.
Fox and Del Rio should not only not pay, but all the players need to walk out on a Wednesday, and not return until the bozos simply cave. The league office doesn't give two sh*ts about the integrity of the game. Solely revenue. Take control back by not playing. It's what the owners would do. Player safety is going to become an increasing issue as the inmates are clearly running the asylum. Once again their answer is to not only ignore the problem, but to assure us that there isn't one as well. When you get down to brass tacks they're nothing more than conniving carnies. They probably found the replacements on craigslist. Last edited by Pendejo; 09-23-2012 at 08:27 AM.. |

Honestly, I don't know why they'd even answer a call from the league office at this point. Don't they have caller ID?

It's not that the regular refs were so stellar. Part of the problem with these guys is that they lack experience with the NFLs rules (some of which are stupid). They haven't had a lot of lead time. But the NFL is the one who has created this scenario and the coaches put a lot of themselves into these games and have a lot on the line with their outcomes. The NFL is just being a bully in how they're coming down on the coaches considering it's their own fault. This is just another example of Goodell saying, "I don't like that; youre fined." Im still confused why they're being fined since it's not as if this is the first time a coach has gone after referees.

"I don't care what the league fines me, these (replacement) refs are terrible," one NFL head coach said last week.
Could this have been Fox? |

if you were the head coach of a team that was actively being screwed by the refs, your playoff position, wins and ultimately career are affected, 20k isnt going to stop you.

NFL couldn't have handled this thing any worse. They just told every team the refs can't control the games by themselves.

on the grounds of not losing leverage over the real refs. with every poorly reffed game the more leverage swings towards the refs.

I acknowledge that. But even still, there should be some justification on the face. When you've overlooked decades of coaches getting on refs, you need to have some reason for fining coaches. Goodell can't just outwardly say he's fining them because they're causing the league to lose leverage (even though what you point out is correct). He has to have some justification on the face.

Wow, talk about a deafening statement. The replacement refs were so had two NFL coaches had to be called by the principal at halftime to layoff.
Yeah Fox and JDR probably crossed the line but it was the refs who bungled that game so had they lost complete control. Sorry NFL, your regular refs bungle calls too but you never see a coach come utterly unglued. It's because the pro refs I ow how to maintain control and have EARNED a god chunk of respect from the players and coaches. These scab refs will NEVER earn that. Everyone knows they are gone soon. |

I was at the game and while they deserved to be yelled at, Fox took it a little far. It got old really fast.

Avoiding just two of those PF penalites and we avoid their FG and would have had the ball back already and driving... No we need two unanswered TDs with no more scoring by them .. a tall order.

I don't even think the Joe Mays roughing was roughing the passer. It was NOT helmet to helmet (Schaub's helmet was hit by May's chest), and it was very bang bang. It was a violent hit, but it wasn't late or dirty.
