Absolutely the best available for that team.

Plus he and Luongo can bunk together when Bobby Lu goes to the Isles.

I just expect it now.

LA is the best built team to beat either of the East teams.
The worst part was the NHL coming to that goomba's defense yesterday.

Very reminiscent of the Packers-Seahawks game where it's the 'Defend our refs no matter what' rule.

He had the worst +/- (-5 in regular season) of all their D and this was on a team that was #7 in 5-on-5 play. How did you like that line change that led to the first goal?

You dont know your contract situation very well. He was extended for the next 6 years. The number isnt actually all that terrible which I agree is the market, its the term that is more on Holland. In your scenario, you think they will be able to move him with 4yrs at 5.3M/yr if he continues to show that he isnt a goalie that can single handedly win you games? Keep hoping!

Again, it appears you arent up to speed on these contracts. Filppula, Cleary, Miller, White are already UFA and can walk if they want though I would suspect Cleary and Fippula will be (attempted to be) brought back. But you cant honestly want to buyout Betuzzi, Samuelsson, Colaiacovo, Quincey, Eaves all at the same time. This would be 3.7M and 4.4M in dead money in the next two years all the while the cap is dropping by 6M next year? Some of that has to be kept. I expect it to be Quincey and Colaiacovo.
**edit: I forgot about 2 amnesty buyouts. Would have to think its Bertuzzi and Samuelsson and maybe your outside call on Franzen is making more sense.

A Franzen buyout - though much less painful thanks to that BS structure of 14 years - is still painful in 2017-2020 at ~4M/yr (if I believe the online tools). That indeed is a bold prediction and that lifetime contract that Holland gave him was a beauty.

Helm retires? At 26? Is his injury career threatening? I remember reading he was hoping to come back if they advanced.

Oh and good luck in the East. This lineup will need to be retooled get a lot tougher to survive. But I expect this year will be similar to future years. Fighting to the end of the regular season, barely in or barely out. Most wings fans havent exactly figured how important Lidstrom was. He should get the credit for this run, not Holland.
Jeff Riger @riger1984

Asked Ken Holland if amnesty talk for Johan Franzen was crazy talk? He said "For me it is!" He asked how often do you find 30 goal scorers?

AV is the better coach though. if Gillis hadn't ****ted on that franchise and screwed up the team the Canucks would have at least one cup by now. this truly pains me to say because there are only 2 teams i truly hate in the NHL. the Red Wings, the Canucks and the mother****ing Red Wings

If I was in charge of the Rangers I would send Glen Sather packing and call up Nashville and hear what they want for Barry Trotz. Trotz is one of the 4 or 5 best coaches in the league, he has a very solid foundation on how to play defensive hockey and he consistently gets production from mediocre talent. Sather needs to go, he has settled the Rangers with so many bad contracts and this offseason is going to be really key for the Rangers, they need to handle Stepan and Mcdonaugh right or they set themselves up bad for their next contracts.

Barry Trotz would be the exact opposite of what the Rangers need. They need a smart offensive minded coach that can get the stars more production on the stat sheet.

No, the Rangers need someone who can get them wins. They were getting a point per game from Nash which is his level, Callahan and Brassard are 50 point players playing like 50 point players and Brad Richards is not the player he was 5 years ago. Stepan played well this season and he can keep that level of play he will be fine.

Trotz is not a guy who kills offensive production, Paul Kariya was a point per game player for the 2 seasons he was in Nashville. Trotz has just not had a lot of offensive talent to work with.

So apparently it was the exit interviews that got Torts fired.

I thought he was so loved by his players...

Man, even a 2nd round exit could not save this organizationally loved coach!

LA/CHI should be interesting. I'll say Chicago finds their game and wins in 6, although I am a big believer in LA's style of play and personnel.

BOS/PITT. Pens will win this series with the help of some officiating.

Your headlines/coverage for the semis:

And Pierre Maguire will fap to Crosby when he's between the benches for reporting.

I'll take Pierre's commentary over the god awful announcing team the B's were given last round. It was painful.

Damn, I thought Piere was going to make it through that second period intermission interview without blowing Crosby, but he found a way.

He lured Bergeron into it, then proceeded to salvate over every word of praise that Bergeron afforded Crosby. I swear he sounded like he just had an orgasm when he wrapped up the interview.

I thought you guys might get a kick out of this....

Actually near the end of this it looks like the Penguin is returning the favor by giving Pierre a handjob.

Kings played really soft the first and second periods.

Looks like Sutter changed the lines to get more forechecking, it's working so far. Need to tie this up.

It's really not. Chicago is absolutely throttling LA just as I knew they would and Quick being otherworldly is the only thing keeping the score from reflecting reality.

If we are able to beat a pretty good Boston team, we're going to have the same problem and I'm going to be depressed and furious all summer that Detroit basically cost me a Cup due to their stupidity and it will substantially affect my personal life. I can see it coming from a mile away and I'm already really pissed off.

Fluke own goal aside, a total manhandling. That final minute of PP where Chicago just played 4 corners, run-out the clock like it was a practice drill was the game in a microcosm. Will be interesting to see how each team handles the playing the very next day. Here's betting on the home side...
