Jonathan Toews completely lost his composure.

If he would have had a knife instead of a hockey stick last night, I think he would have disemboweled a couple of the Red Wings players right out there on the ice.

Kindl and Ericsson really are impressive--young guys who are developing into what Holland thought they could be. It ain't over and a team like the Hawks can rally but not with Toews losing all composure and Howard doing what he's doing right now.

They should have swept the rangers, but a couple lucky bounces prevented that.

Funny fact of the day: Johnny Boychuk has more goals these playoffs than Tyler Seguin, Rick Nash, Jaromir Jagr, Brad Richards, Anze Kopitar & Corey Perry combined.

yikes....

Stastny is a FA after next season so he's not taking a pay cut until next year so the cap implications are nothing.

Jones, for all the wonderful work Sherman did with negotiating contracts for the core was terrible. but he was coming off back to back 20 goal seasons and was a UFA so he got overpaid as such.

something tells me there will be multiple players dealt real soon from the team.
i'd say the likelihood of taking Jones #1 has gone up as Roy loves a aggressive D with really good skating D men.
i'd hazard a guess that they will also bring in a top notch D man through FA or trade.

BTW this is the type of hockey they need to be playing to win a Cup. Its about consistency. They massacred a good team and great goaltender. Keep it up boys because the competition will only get tougher.

Here's to the B's taking care of business tomorrow and on to a potentially epic ECF.

Good luck to you Beantown. Should be a great series. Bruins are a great squad. Hope we get to play them.

Pens played a great series. I knew Ottawa had a slim chance of even winning the series, but the Pens have too much experience and firepower. They're going to have a very difficult time against the Bruins as the Bruins match up very well; they are big and probably the most physical team in the league. They have everything that Ottawa lacks. If Ottawa had more size and were as physical as the Bruins then I would have had higher hopes of the Sens winning the series. I hope Alfredsson comes back, he deserves to win the cup more than any other player in this league.

It's looking like the Blackhawks might take it to the Wings in Game 5.

They're only up 1-0, but it feels like they are going to open up a can tonight.

That's fine by me. B's could use a few extra days off before the ECF.

Except for the Sharks (1 of the 2 teams to make the playoffs every year after the 2004 lockout), only the most recent Stanley Cup Winners are left in the playoffs:

2012: LA Kings
2011: Boston Bruins
2010: Chicago Blackhawks
2009: Pittsburgh Penguins
2008: Detroit Red Wings

Talk about parity all you want, but good teams are good teams.

Hawks are actually cashing in on PP tonight. Hold on here, could turn this series toward an epic final game or two...

Well apparently, Henrik Lundqvist thinks that the rangers were a couple of lucky bounces from prevailing.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2013...-lucky-bounces

I guess he sees it through a different lens; it's pretty clear without him; they lose every game 7-0 or 8-1.

It's weird, Wings are playing extremely well but Hawks are completely underachieving.

If Hawks find their mojo, they still seem like they are the better team and probably take it in 7.

Crawford still scares me though. Howard is playing so well, he is really impressive this spring.

Game 6 seems like the series. It's the game that is most winnable by each team. Chicago might have found a groove in game 5. And their backs are still against the wall. They can go into Detroit and get a game. On the other hand, Detroit has played better for most of the series and will be at home.

But if it goes to a game 7, it seems the odds swing in the Blackhawks favor since they will be at home with momentum. Detroit could win a game 7 but game 6 is by far their best chance.
