Default Stats to consider going into tomorrow night's game...

The Broncos are 24-4 in home openers going back to 1983. Last year was the first home opener loss in almost a decade. There is usually a lengthy period of time between Bronco home opener losses.

Since 2000 Peyton Manning is 20-6 in the Month of September. Four of the loses were on the road.

Manning is 3-2 all time against the Steelers.

In Primetime games since 2005 Manning's all time record is 24-4. At home in primetime since 2005 he is 8-1.

Manning hasn't lost a home opener since 2002 and lost three in his entire career. Twice to the Dolphins and once to the Raiders.

John Fox has a terrible home opener record. (3-6) as a head coach. He actually has a better record in road openers (6-4) than home openers, strangely.

Since 1992 the Steelers are 9-10 in road openers. Since 2001 they are 4-7.

Roethlisberger is 4-4 in road openers. He is 23-9 in prime time games. 5-3 in road prime time games. One of those wins was against the Broncos and one loss against the Manning and the Colts. He is 2-2 all time against Peyton Manning.

I actually expect to win this game. I'm not impressed or intimidated by Pittsburgh's team. They won't be able to block our edge rushers and they have several key injuries. Wallace just got into camp recently, so he hasnt had a ton of reps in Todd Haley's new system. I don't think the Steelers will come out like a fine tuned machine. I'm not saying they will be a pushover by any means. But I think Denver will score a good amount of points (27-ish) and should win the game.

So if we lose blame Fox and if we win praise Manning?

GOT IT!

That 24-4 stat seems awry. 9 games at home and 19 on the road?

You're reading "home opener" wrong. There are no road home openers, unless someone opens in London for a "home" game I guess...

I don't think it's irrelevant. It's not like we're rolling dice here where the odds are reset every time. Past performance doesn't "make you" win a game or contribute toward anything that will happen in this game, true. However I do believe it is in indicator for performance. Some people do play more focused and raise their level of play in certain circumstances. Denver's home opener is a big deal and the players could sense that and similarly raise their level of play. It doesn't affect the game, but it could be an indicator for how things might go.

Oh that! It's not. I'm at church so I can't dig it up, but one season he had 5 prime time games and four were road. It is heavy on the road. Many of colt games get flexed because they've always been relevant late season.

Goodness 24-4 is quite a statistical trend. Let's hope our new QB is the same ole'.
