We couldn't...we need guys on the line to step in the rotation to keep everybody fresh...we already have a "Stud" DE/DT...in Pryce.

ahhh, $8 mil in cap room with Pryce, Smith, Nalen and Neil still able to restructure.

Grant promised a visit to Dick in KC, but everytime he went for the door, Seattle kept adding another $1 mil to the signing bonus. Eventually he reached a point where even going to see Dick wasn't worth it.

That might be, but we still need to sign draft picks, and if we're looking to sign Garner and/or Jackson the well will be dry.

I'm also betting that Shanahan wants to keep some room for June 1st free agents as well.

Yep, you can get some bargains later on, but they're only short term signings.

Wistrom raped the Seabags. I don't know how he came away with that contract. You could tell that Wistrom thought the Seahawks were out of there mind and snatched that deal up before he even left their training facility.

I'm not against this if he comes cheap. If this is another reach signing like Pittman was, I'll be mad. This guy probably won't even start for us. IF he is sliding into the rotation at a cheap price, I don't really care. I know he had a lot of potential coming out of college. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery.

Here is his scouting report coming out of college.... sounds about right with where his career is at:

Ebenezer Ekuban | DE | North Carolina | ACC
Ht Wt 40 BP SS LS VJ BJ Grade
6'3" 281 4.72 - 4.39 - 32.0 9'4" 7.2

"He is a very interesting guy with a high upside. He has a limited football background, grew up in Ghana and is just starting to come into his own. He is a former TE that has only two years of experience at DE. He has great athletic ability and overall quickness and has a natural explosive first step as a pass rusher. He can really flash at times coming off the edge and he has great backside chase speed. He plays hard and will try to finish every play and he does a decent job versus the run despite his size. He has a chance to develop into a solid pass rusher on the NFL level, but the jury is still out about his ability to play the run and even though he plays hard, he is not a real natural player and doesn't always see things as quickly as he should. He is a developmental prospect that may take a little time. "

All I know is the guy better come cheap.

Draft picks are half of that $8 mil at most and Kearse wouldn't have a $4 mil cap hit in Denver. They can still clear another $8 mil easy if they wanted to.

Hell Beuerlein is still a member of the team, and that's $1 mil right there when he officially announces he's retiring.

If we wanted double digit sacks we could have signed Berry for a 5 mill SB.

I am a Cowboys fan, and Ekuban is waste of a roster spot. 2.5 sacks last year and 1 the year before. He lost his starting position last year to another guy who isn't that good. He commonly is called "Ekubust" by Cowboys. At least if the Broncos sign him, he will be somebody elses problem.

I like Kearse a lot, more than many on this board, but I wanted no part of another $60 million ballplayer. Definitely not one with an injury history.

And we need a runningback....this guy will do fine....although..I would have liked to have had Berry here. But comparing this guy to Pittman and even Lett is ridiculous. Ray and Robinson don't coach here anymore.

Kearse has spent to many days out with injury for the kind of money he got. Besides as Garcia said, we don't need stud DE, we have one in Pryce. Of course it would help, but I think we can sign a Berry type player for less money and still be good. Does Ekuban fit the bill, I don't know. I have not seen him play enough to say.

But still, if Shanahan wants Garner and/or Jackson, he can't sign another big ticket guy like those two.

Alfred Williams, Neil Smith, and Darrien Gordon all were cap casualties and signed after June 1st. Kearse and Wistrom are luxuries that would've hamstrung us to make any more moves. Shanahan has other area he needs to address.

Of course, not saying you would, but I guarantee if Shanahan blew his load on Bailey and one of those guys, and let the RB and WR situation suffer because of it, a lot of people would be all over him.

I wanted the Broncos to draft him and was sorry the Cowboys got him instead. I would love it if he would come to Denver. He's part of the reason the Cowboys even got to the playoffs this year. It's all about the $, but I hope this deal goes through for us. I think many of you would be pleasantly surprised.

At least these guys were okay/good at one time. Ekuban has shown nothing.

Again if Ekuban is cheap, I'm okay with this signing. We have McNeal and Mitchell coming in as depth next season unless we draft another DE. I WOULD like to have a seasoned defensive player ready if Hayward or Pryce were to go down.

I wouldn't worry about the sacks... Hayward and Berry came out of nowhere their first season to get career highs in sacks this past season. Maybe the change will benefit Ekuban.

Lett was good almost a decade before he came here...and Pittman hardly started in Dallas. Like I said...we don't have a DC that routinely drops DE's into coverage and implements the two man rush. You can't make an assumption on how EE will do here anyway....because he's not the same as those guys.

Some of you are just looking up his career page and see the name Dallas and think he's the same guy as those other two. It's actually makes me laugh.

All I know is that coming out of college EE had a 4.72 40. That is pretty quick around the corner. If he is coachable Coyer could do some things with him.

No offense S514, but the day I take ques from Dallas fans is the day Hell(i.e. Texas) freezes over. Just kidding....like I said...he can come in on our rotation. We don't have Chan and Campo coaching here.

Ebenezer who...?

If I recall correctly from seeing a couple Cowgirl games over the last couple years, EE plays in pursuit reasonably well against the run, but has a tendency to overrun the pass rush and allow the offensive tackle to ride him right out of the backfield. Once ridden out, he doesn't have the strength or bull moves to force his way back into the pocket. Tends to be overwhelmed on running plays right at his end of the line.

Feh. And phooey. We've been down this road before.

I s'poze it would be one thing to bring him in cheap for training camp, to see what he can do... but he's not worth big bucks.

Regards,
Morgan

And while I'm thinking of it... EE is supposed to be a "speed" DE, but he still didn't manage to do much as part of a whole Cowboys defense predicated for the last two years on speed.

No wonder Parcells is willing to let him go as he reshapes the Cowboy defense with size and nastiness as well as speed...

Regards,
Morgan

If Parcells can't teach the guy how to be a good DE, nobody can.
