Default So I'm watching the full game DVD of superbowl24....

And I'm convinced that if Bobby Humphrey didn't have 2 cracked ribs and wasn't having to wear a flack jacket that caused him to fumble at 5 mins to go in the first quarter with us trailing 7-3 at the 50 yard line after forcing montana and company to a 3 and out on their second possession. Also Elways only completion in the first quarter ( started 1-7) was on a shovel pass to Humphrey for 26 yards. Watching the games first quarter I realize that we actually had a fighting chance.... And 22 years later after seeing nothing but 49er highlights of touchdowns on tv watching the actual game gives a different perspective. And if Bruce collie hadn't leg whipped mecklenburg we may have been more stout.

But after seeing how soft that niner defense was towards the run, the 1998 Broncos would have beaten the 1989 49ers simply because we would have been able to play ball control with Terrell AND SCORE points....and we were able to pressure the QB in 1998 (but not soo stout against the run). Our 1998 team really doesn't get the props it deserves...

Let it go! We got our asses handed to us. Why you would want to re-live that game is beyond me. Are you going to tell us if Tebow was in there, we would have had a chance?

I actually have 4 games from that 1989 season on DVD..NYG @ Den PHI @ DEN PIT @ DEN (playoffs where merrill hoge destroyed our RUN D) and of course SB24. If Elway had played Qb in1989 at the level he had played at in 1987-88, we would've been a better team offensively.

IMO: The second quarter of Super Bowl XXII is far and away the worst moment/game whatever in Broncos history. Followed closely by the 1996 playoff loss to the Jagwads.

uh Denver was down 27-3 at halftime. What happened in the first quarter is irrelevant.

OP, I agree. Alot of blowouts are games that didnt have to get out of hand. After that fumble we stopped running the ball, big mistake! That was a game that Denver could have at least kept close, but they needed a ball control game plan to do it. Reeves got spooked by that fumble, and Elway got rattled trying to play catch up. Should have been a better game.

Did any of you really think we had a chance against the 9ers back then? I was just a 4th or 5th grader back then and knew we were in for an ass whoopin.

My point was yes , this happens to be the darkest Sunday in bronco history.... However upon re-viewing the actual game it easily could have been 10-7 Denver at the end of 1 instead of 14-3 SF. And yes I realize that we were up 10-0 on the skins 2 years earlier after 1 qtr but you never know how playing with a lead could have affected our offensive gameplan which if Humphrey had been not playing with 2 cracked ribs, we could have leaned on him more. Mark Jackson also had Three horrendous drops in that first half.

Yeah, 49ers were so lucky...had Humphrey not been playing with 2 cracked ribs and if Montana, Rice, Taylor, Lott, Rathman, and Craig all been too hurt to play we could've beat em.

Bobby Humphrey could have been cloned and Denver allowed to play with 12 players on offense and it still wouldn't have mattered.

That 49er team was one of the top 5 Superbowl teams of all time. I still have repressed childhood memories of that game.

What was that? Oh, never mind...it was just the 49ers scoring again.

How do you make Bronco stew? Put them in the bowl and pound on them for 3 hours...

49ERS55.....license tag of truck that hit us

What does the Tomahawk chop motion mean in KC?...Go chiefs! In Atlanta, go braves!....in Denver? first and ten 49ers

I'm so glad Elway's last two seasons got that monkey off our collective backs

How many Broncos does it take to change a tire?
Just one unless it is a blowout then tey all show up.

Did you hear Elway tried to kill himself?
He is alive as the bullet was intercepted

Did you hear Elway painted his Drive way to look like an endzone?
Yeah, now he can't find his way home.
