the differance is dems don't act on it in such a way that they put their own ideology/power grabbing above what is best for the country.

"Obama's plan"? Seriously? You should probably actually read the article you linked to support your argument. This is about congress, not Obama or his "plan". You're falling for the GOP spin blaming Obama for all of this. Come on, you're smarter than that.

It is comparable. Reagan and Tip O'neill had some fairly heated exchanges, didn't Tip O'neill reject Reagans request to speak to the House? Sound familiar? Boehner pulled the same move when he objected to the date of Obama speaking. Tip and President Reagan were on the complete opposite ends of the spectrum on just about every policy. Clinton was up against the same situation with Newt Gingrich (who I don't like) they had budget wars, longest federal government shutdown in US history happened under those two. Then came the Clinton scandal, and needless to say that made things nasty. Bush Jr. had to deal with Pelosi, both disagreed over the war on terror and funding it. Pelosi didn't exactly have rosy things to say about the President. This President hasn't dealt with anything unusual, I won't disagree that Republicans have given him a hard time. However, one of Obama's key promises in 2008 was that he would usher in a post partisan era...he's failed to do that. A recent article on this from the WSJ... Quote:

Amazing how what Rushbo says gets repeated all over the 'Net in a very short time, across blogs, media comment sites, etc. etc. It's amazingly coordinated. |

Failed to lower unemployment below 8 despite claiming the stimulus would do so. Ballooned our national deficit. Squandered millions in tax payers $ to failed green initiatives. And that's only three. But...3 strikes and you're out! |

Your GOP has put party before country, and that's why things are so messed up right now. When you gonna unwrap Norquist's hands from around your balls? PS - Bush pissed away trillions on two wars. You never complained about that, boy. |
