Default Denver Broncos rookie defensive lineman Derek Wolfe a big hit so far - The Denver Post

Finally, as Derek Wolfe planted his hand in the Soldier Field dirt Thursday night, he was staring down a live target. After weeks of being told "Don't touch the quarterback," Wolfe couldn't wait to start a pass rush and finish it. Sure, Thursday was just a preseason game, and nothing that happened in Chicago will stick on Wolfe's NFL record. But with two sacks and another tackle for a loss, Wolfe made a good first impression.
"Obviously I want to be starting, so I'm going to do what I have to do to start. I'll keep my head down, keep grinding, keep pushing," Wolfe said. "You get what you deserve in this league. And if you deserve to start, they'll put you in there."
It's exactly the type of statement the Broncos expect......

Default New focus, same foundation in Denver Broncos' offensive line Read more: New focus, same foundation

There is greater strength in pass protection without lifting a weight.
The added power up front was ensured with the Broncos' switch in quarterbacks from Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning. Tebow took 33 sacks while making 271 pass attempts last year. Manning in 2009 was sacked 10 times despite 571 pass attempts.
"The decision-making is so fast," said right guard Chris Kuper. "You block as long as you feel pressure. When the ball is gone, they start to turn around. When the ball is gone in two seconds, they're turning around."
The question for the Broncos' offensive linemen in 2012, though, is can they run the ball now that Manning is their pocket-passing quarterback and Tebow is off running with the New York Jets?
The Broncos led the NFL in rushing last season, but with respect to tailback Willis McGahee, much of the credit belongs to Tebow and the unique spread-option offense that coaches John Fox and Mike McCoy installed midway through the season.
The Broncos ranked 22nd in rushing before Tebow replaced Kyle Orton at halftime of the fifth game last season. They were 26th in 2010, 18th in 2009.
Without Tebow running he led NFL quarterbacks with 47.1 yards rushing per game last season or the threat of Tebow taking off, the Broncos will have to prove they can run the ball by more conventional means.
"You've probably heard we're not going to carry the ball as much this year," Kuper said. "I don't know if that's possible. But we're going to have a dual threat there. Guys are going to be scared of Peyton's arm, and there's a ton of things we can do."

MethManning was a little tight, but he'll bring it all together by the time the season starts.

Wolfe spent much of that month doing CrossFit, mixed martial arts and boxing training, all designed to maintain strength while improving his cardiovascular endurance.
"In football, you do something quick, then stop and do something else. It's a lot of stop, go, stop, go. Not a lot of rest," Wolfe said. "(CrossFit and MMA) is about getting your lungs in condition. Anyone can grab a weight and lift it once. It's about how many times can you lift it and do it right."

let's hope methWolfe's Crossfit experience was more successful than Knowhon's. Also, to MMA training.

Pre-emptively giving out pos-rep to everyone in this thread.

It don't take money and it don't take fame
Don't need no rich boys hair to play this game
Tougher than diamonds and stronger than steel
You won't see nothin' then you'll feel
You feel the power, just the power of Wolfe
That's the power, that's the power of meth
