Default Hurricane Harvey threatens the Gulf Coast with a biblical flood disaster

https://weather.com/storms/hurricane...cast-24aug2017

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh...l/241455.shtml

http://mashable.com/2017/08/23/tropi.../#JDQxfsooSmqS

Rainfall totals could exceed 25 or even 30 inches in some places, since the storm is expected to meander along the Texas coast once it makes landfall, moving less than 500 miles from Friday through Monday morning. Some computer models even loop the storm back out over the Gulf of Mexico, only to make a second landfall in northeastern Texas or western Louisiana early next week.

Such a scenario, with a juiced up hurricane making landfall and stalling out, is the stuff of nightmares for flood forecasters, since the number one killer from tropical cyclones is inland flooding.

That would be a ton of rain. Last year we got about 10 inches of rain in a "regular" storm and then 2 weeks later we had Hurricane Matthew come through and dump 14 more inches.

Batten down the hatches! Now they're saying it will become a Category III. Not good.

Harvey was a tropical storm out in the carribean, broke up as it passed over us here on the Yucatan Peninsula. Once it hit that warmer Gulf water it reshaped itself and turned into a hurricane.

Hope everyone in Texas makes out okay.

If any ships are out there in the Gulf, what are the chances they will be in a movie in a few years based on their bravery?

They'll get out of the way long before anything happens.

If they do get out of the way that fast, they should let our Navy know how they did it.

This storm is going to be really something. CNN stopped talking about trump for 20 minutes to talk about it. You all should run for your lives.

"25 or even 30 inches"

Pffttt...."biblical" indeed.

Call me when "...the waters prevail exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that [are] under the whole heaven, [are] covered. [When] fifteen cubits upward [do] the waters prevail; and the mountains [are] covered." Then you'll be talking "biblical"!

I saw this a lot as a MG and Halloween costume in Nola after Katrina (that vindictive b****).

Brilliant as you have a built in beer supply.

The amazing thing about this storm is how quickly it formed up. I was watching the Weather Channel and a meteorologist said it was just a "blob of nothing" when it crossed the Yucatan. Then it hit the 86 degree waters off Texas which was like feeding it nuclear fuel. Only three days warning.
