We all know the tragic ending of his career. Many have said he could have been the best to ever play the game had he not got injured the way he did.
I looked at his stats and honestly, I was blown away at 3 years. He had a decent rookie year and we know how things went after the injury. Just look at these stats. Who was ever better over a 3 year period. Who was ever as dominant over 3 consecutive years. Nobody. These are the sickest stats I've ever seen for a RB in 3 consecutive years. Can you imagine if he had these kind of stats even for just, oh say, 3 more years. There would definitely be talk of him being the best to every play. 1996 - 1848 all purpose yards - 15 TD's (Including post season - 1939 yards - 16 TD's) 1997 - 2037 all purpose yards - 15 TD's (Including post season - 2618 yards - 24 TD's) 1998 - 2225 all purpose yards - 23 TD's (Including post season - 2693 yards - 26 TD's) 7250 yards & 66 TD's in 3 seasons 2000 Yard Club NFL MVP SUPERBOWL MVP 2 Championships |

Very well could have been. I have said it before and used those 3 seasons as my basis.
Hence my name. Elway will always be my hero , but TD will always be the man that HELPED make sure my hero didn't end up being Dan Marino. |

Gilbert Brown is still having nightmares about TD....
I will always remember his (Brown) teammates imploring him to suck it up... Man, that EAS stuff the team was gobbling back in the late 90's worked... Makes me wonder what TD is up to these days...does he still do some stuff for NFL Network? |

There are players in the hof just because of their post season stats - TD deserves to be in just for 1997 and 1998 playoffs/SBs.

I think TD gets docked by a lot of people because of how much success Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, and Clinton Portis all had running behind the Broncos' line. It seemed like anybody could get 1000 yards rushing for the Broncos. I personally think that's unfair, that TD was truly special, and does deserve to be in the Hall, but that's just me. If I'm picking a back for one game, I'd choose Terrell Davis anyday over Curtis Martin and a lot of the other guys that are already in the Hall.

I was so frickin pissed at Elway that year. I mean, it wasn't like the guy had to go out there and throw for 5000 yards and 30 TD's. All he needed to do was get behind the wheel and keep it under 55. It would have been a 3 peat, something so special it's ridiculous. He should have came back and went for it. Body aches or not, it was something so totally within grasp, it was realistic to think they could have done it. He should have went for it.
