Default Osweiler takes second-team reps as Broncos' QB

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/osweile...9908--nfl.html

It hasn't taken Brock Osweiler long to move up the Denver Broncos depth chart.

The rookie, according to the Denver Post, is now taking second-team reps at quarterback behind Peyton Manning. During the off-season, Osweiler was the Broncos' fourth quarterback on the depth chart.

Like many others I hated the pick. Outside of the 1's I am probably most looking forward to watching Brock in the preseason games. It would be a beautiful thing to build a Aaron Rodgers situation here.

They all take second team reps. They are going to rotate it throughout camp. Elway mentioned they put more stock in game-production than practice, so expect that to be the real deciding factor.

Does anyone honestly think our hand-picked second rounder is going to sit behind Caleb Hanie this season?

I too would love it if he becomes captain-fantastic QB but I'm going to wait and see about that possibility.

Only thing I'd wonder about is whether they'd want to put that much pressure on Brock if something happened to Manning in the short term.

The Broncos will carry 3 QBs on their active roster and Weber won't be one of them, as of today. I reserve the right to change this opinion frequently as TC progresses.

If Osweiler is truly outplaying Hanie, he may be second string. I wouldn't have expected that, because I thought experience would ALWAYS be valued over youth...

Did anyone expect Hanie to look any different? I'm not even a fan of the Osweiler pick and I'd still take him, rookie mistakes and all, over Caleb Freaking Hanie.

Hanie's "experience" amounts to a 41.6 career QB rating and a 3-to-1 interception to touchdown ratio. If Osweiler can't beat out that "experience", picking him in the 2nd round was a terrible, terrible mistake.

For reference sake, Tebow, who many here act like is the worst QB ever, has a career QB rating of 75.1 and has thrown nearly twice as many TD's as interceptions. So yeah, Osweiler should be able to beat out Caleb Freaking Hanie.

Hence, Elway saying that how a QB performs when it matters (aka games) will be the deciding factor, not so much how a player performs in practice.

1. Start thread about current Broncos QB situation.
2. See thread derailed by Tebow morons and apologists before it gets past the first page.
3. Profit.

You have a serious persecution complex. The only mentions of Tebow here are 1. a joke and 2. to underscore just how much Caleb Hanie sucks.

The big concern here is what it'll do to Osweiler if he's forced into starting as a rookie. He's coming out of college early, didn't start a lot in college, has tweaked his throwing motion, and we might just force him onto the field early because Caleb Hanie is the best we could do for a #2 QB.

Wrong. Tebowners have the persecution complex. Honestly wish they'd just go away.

And I wish you'd get back to the non-crazy Drek who used to have such solid posts here instead of the current incarnation who makes the same bogus arguments over and over to defend your boy.

But wish in one hand...

It is called experience. It paid off for Manning, Elway, Aikman among other SB winning QB's.

That's the problem with doing it while Manning's around though. Expectations are through the roof. To some extent Elway, but especially Aikman and Manning got to learn while nobody really expected much of their teams. Which was good because they mostly struggled to win even a handful of games.

If Manning's done.. that's one thing. Then you turn the page and start playing the kid. But if he's out for a week or two, it would be ugly to throw the kid in. Let's not forget the fact that he literally only played 1 1/2 seasons in college. In a completely non-NFL style offense.

It's hard to imagine a greener QB prospect.

I kinda get your point that if we are in a SB run and Manning is out 2 weeks we will have trouble winning behind the rookie but then when you look down the roster and see Haine and Weber I would rather start the rook no matter what the situation is.

Haine did nothing to help Chicago in the Tebow Time game win, Barber gave that game away but duh bears should have won that game by 3 TD's.

I know confidence is big but if you don't have it or can't get it quick in the NFL you don't belong there.
