San Diego Bay launched 20 minutes worth of fireworks in the span of 9 seconds in an epic 4th of July failure. This is what it looked like ![]() (It actually was probably pretty cool to see) |

Thats why they are called the sparklers.
Every year they are supposed to win it all and instead, as usual they shoot their load all at once, and literally flame out. |

Did they make LaDainian Tomlinson the honorary fireworks ignitor this year?

I only saw the three columns of smoke afterwards. I can tell you that it was loud, and the ground shook. It reminded me of the onset of an earthquake. It was definitely peculiar.

These are the results you get when you put a Chiefs fan in charge of things.

Pretty weak that it was only supposed to last 20 minutes to begin with. For a "major" city, that's awful. My hometown's fireworks (population of 20K) last over 30 minutes with an insane finale of about 10 minutes.
Chumps. |

I used to be on a local town Arts Council and had the job of syncing a live performance of the 1812 Overture to the fireworks because I could read a score.
One year I told them go and the band hit the cue and there was a sputer and pop followed by nothing for awhile until they found the issue but by then the band shot it's wad though they did play Stars and Stripes a couple times through. |

Who went to Mile High this year for the fireworks show? Broncos season ticket holders got free tixs.
It was a pretty good show. |

We did the Stadium of Fire at Lavell Edwards Stadium. It was awesome. 60K(ish) people, the Beach Boys (who still put on a great show), and easily the best fireworks show I've ever seen.

The Beach Boys are still rockin'? I thought their lead singer ate so much he had to be crane lifted onto stage.

Dennis Wilson, the only one who surfed, died back in the mid 80's. I saw them play in 1981 and it was a great show. I was a big Beach Boys & Jan and Dean fan as a kid after discovering Pet Sounds and seeing a made for TV movie about Jan and Dean around the same time. |

I watched the fireworks from Coney Island. Started my day with friends at Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest. Beers were flwoing all day, so I couldn't tell you if the fireworks were good or not
