Default More Evidence of Romney's Sociopathy

John Lauber, a soft-spoken new student one year behind Romney, was perpetually teased for his nonconformity and presumed homosexuality. Now he was walking around the all-boys school with bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye, and Romney wasn’t having it.

“He can’t look like that. That’s wrong. Just look at him!” an incensed Romney told Matthew Friedemann, his close friend in the Stevens Hall dorm, according to Friedemann’s recollection. Mitt, the teenaged son of Michigan Gov. George Romney, kept complaining about Lauber’s look, Friedemann recalled.

A few days later, Friedemann entered Stevens Hall off the school’s collegiate quad to find Romney marching out of his own room ahead of a prep school posse shouting about their plan to cut Lauber’s hair. Friedemann followed them to a nearby room where they came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground. As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors.

Everyone as a teenager has done or said something they have regretted later as an adult, but then again the characteristic and context of the quality and quantity of those actions doesn't belie the true nature of one's character. You can see the dots being connected with Romney assaulting a gay classmate to his callous disregard of his dog Seamus to Romney bankrupting companies and job destruction at Bain Capital.

And now for the obligatory apology/denial most politicians issue....

Romney apologizes for high school 'pranks,' says doesn't recall hair-cutting incident.

Romney, though, told Fox News Radio Thursday he doesn't recall that specific incident, and certainly did not know the student was gay.

"I don't remember that incident," he said. "And I'll tell you I certainly don't believe that I ... thought the fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case."

Amazing how one of the people who held the kid down remembers the incident, but Mitt doesn't. Selective amnesia I guess. Most politicos have it.

That he says he doesn't even remember it is probably more disturbing than the act itself. If I had done something like that in high school, I sure as hell would have remembered it. A high school "prank" is dumping a container of salt in somebody's milk, or putting something stinky in their locker.

My favorite Republican denial, "Well, IF anybody was offended, then I apologize."

Report: Romney Camp Asks High School Friend To Issue Supporting Remarks
The Romney campaign has approached one of Mitt Romney’s closest high school friends and asked him to give “supporting remarks” about Romney after a Washington Post story detailed a bullying incident from Romney’s time at the Cranbrook School, reports ABC News.

The friend, Stu White, told ABC he is still deciding whether he will help the campaign. White was not present when the specific incident in the Post story – in which Romney and others held down a fellow student presumed to be gay and cut his hair – took place. White told ABC that he knew several other classmates had also been contacted by the campaign and asked to counter the article’s portrayal of Romney.
it seems since willard can't deny it, he's hoping someonelse can speak for him on it. willard always seems to look to somebody to speak for him on any tough issue. the fact that this guy stu white has to actually think about wether he'll step up for romney says alot.either that or he's negotiating a monetary value for speaking on romneys behalf.

This is a fair and reasonable take on the whole thing:

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_a...ton_post_.html

This was interesting:

It’s also worth pointing out, as Salon’s Glenn Greenwald has, that as a Yale sophomore in 1965, George W. Bush reportedly stuck up for a reputedly gay student. Bush heard the student being called “queer,” told the taunters to shut up, and apparently also said, “Why don’t you try walking in his shoes for a while?” That’s the kind of instinctive compassion Mitt Romney failed to show when he was a few years younger than Bush was.

This "lack of empathy" issue seems to be following Romney like a hungry dog, so to speak.

The text comes directly from President Obama’s first memoir, “Dreams From My Father” and recounts an incident which occurred while he was in middle school. When our president became the subject of taunts from his fellow classmates, [B]he decided to shove a little girl named Coretta. Although he chronicles his feelings of regret, he never does not offer her an apology.

He should have pushed her to the ground, held her down and cut off her hair.

What was she thinking, looking like that?

Dems can't win on issues this election. Good plan to make it about character. Who cares though Obama was a coke head in college.

Meh all of us have been bullies at some point in school. Great politics by dems though you have to admire that if you follow the game. You announce gay marriage, then next day story breaks about Romney being a bully to what may have been a gay kid is HS. Brilliant. No matter what you have to admire the Chicago style politics Obama engages in. He is a true master of avoiding issues that hurt him, and getting media to focus on what he wants.
