Default Boomhauer's RB/WR/CB board

We look pretty well set at these positions and the draft is quite deep in talent. Here's my lists of possible picks with ones ready to start and contribute this year highlighted. All players mentioned I've scouted while their round prediction is based on various 'expert' opinions.

RB
Mario Fannin (5'11" 224) and Jeremiah Johnson (5'9" 200) combined are capable of carrying the team this year, but another young RB would be a good idea since McGahee is a dog-slow veteran and NoShow's a bust.

David Wilson - 1st/2nd
Doug Martin - 1st/2nd
Lamar Miller - 2nd
Chris Polk - 2nd
Bernard Pierce - 3rd
Robert Turin - 3rd
Isaiah Pead - 3rd
Cyrus Gray - 3rd/4th
Tauren Poole - 4th/5th
Ronnie Hillman - 5th
Bryce Brown - 6th
Brandon Bolden - 6th
Bobby Rainey - 7th
The two best RBs above, IMO, are Cyrus Gray and Tauren Poole. There's a form dropoff going to Brown/Bolden and a speed dropoff with Martin. I'm hoping we can either draft Gray or Poole to compete for the starting gig.

WR
This is much more a position of need than RB, with none of our three-best WRs having #1 potential - Caldwell, Goodwin and Decker. Mark Dell showed a lot of potential last summer. Willis and Hill are OK backup K/PRs, but I've already written off Stokley and Thomas for the same reasons as McGahee and NoShow.

Kendall Wright - 1st/2nd
AJ Jenkins - 2nd
Rishard Matthews - 2nd/3rd
Greg Childs - 3rd
Danny Coale - 6th
Chris Owusu - 6th/7th
Toney Clemons - 7th
Keshawn Martin - CFA
Michael Calvin - CFA
Jermaine Kearse - CFA
Jerrell Jackson - CFA

The best WRs for us, IMO, is Matthews and Clemons with Calvin maybe a 1yr project or could immediately contribute. All are big, fast #1-type receivers we need while Coale and Martin are smaller Eddie Royal-type receivers. I'd like to see us draft Matthews, but it might make better sense (value) to look at Clemons or Calvin late/CFA.

CB
Tracy Porter was a great signing, but it's only for one year and Champ isn't getting any younger. We're set at CB this season, especially with Vaughn and Harris backing them up, but depth needs to be looked at for the future.

Janoris Jenkins - 2nd
Josh Robinson - 2nd
Asa Jackson - 4th/5th
Coty Sensabaugh - 5th/6th
Terrence Frederick - 6th
Derrius Brooks - 7th
Isaiah Frey - 7th
Lionel Smith - 7th
Antonio Fenelus - 7th
Trenton Hughes - CFA
Buddy Jackson - CFA

If we're looking for a potential starter this year that we can pin hopes on for next, Jenkins or Brooks should be drafted. Considering value and character, Brooks is probably the better choice. Just behind them is Frederick, who could be ready week1 with some coaching. Lionel Smith is an excellent DB that could play nickel or backup FS immediately, but I'm not sure about his man-coverage skills though he does have the size/speed for it. Frey and Fenelus have great potential, but would likely require a season to be ready.

I really like Chris Polk at RB for Denver. Fits what Peyton likes to do.

Big mistake just writing off Thomas. He's going to be a beast... not exactly perfect for Manning's system, but he'll be here long after Peyton is gone.

lol at just writing Thomas off.

But seriously, you forgot this guy in your WR's:

He performed at OU's pro Day and IMO will be set for training camp, and would be a great mid round pick. He can catch, great after the catch, and tough to go all over the field.

You've written off Demaryius Thomas for the same reason you do mcgahee and moreno...which were "because one is slow and one is a bust"

That makes no sense. Not to mention that you seem to hold Mark Dell in higher esteem than you do our best receiver from last year, who is also a physical beast.

I remember when I thought McGahee was slow. Then I saw him bust out that TD 50+, blowing past the Raiders speedy secondary.

OBTW, OP is TL/DR.

Forgot to clarify in the OP that I didn't scout players expected to be gone before we picked at #25 such as Richardson, Blackmon, Floyd, Clayborne and Kirkpatrick. All are legitimate 1st Rnd picks I'd gladly see us take if they fell.

I didn't forget him, I scouted and passed. During that Cal's #3 WR Michael Calvin really stood out for his great awareness, physicality and speed. Calvin didn't see a lot of passes, but new every assignment and excelled when blocking, pursued with his head on a swivel to help his teammates extend plays (even taking an angle across the entire field to run down Sofele) and ran every route at full speed and with precision even though he was just the decoy.

It's hard to gauge his hands with such a limited number of passes, but he could make an immediate impact on SP-Teams while contributing as a receiver his first season.

If you'd gotten the comment right, it might make more sense; "I've already written off Stokley and Thomas for the same reasons as McGahee and NoShow." Which means Stokely and McGahee are equally dog-slow while Thomas and Moreno are equally busts. Would it have helped if I'd said "respectively"?

I can't remember the exact reason I wrote off Boomhauer's opinions, but I remember thinking it was pretty valid.
