these people are lunatics. I get the whole having stock supplies in case of whatever....But when they do this because they think the world is going to croak in 11 months....I laugh out loud

Pretty entertaining isn't it. I've got things for emergencies and whatnot but some of this is out there. Food for 25 years?
There's going to be a really good one coming up though on this guy who created an entire biosphere in his back pool. Fish, chickens, algea... a completely self sustainable biosphere based around food production. |

I should turn my truck into one of those gasofier vehicles just to piss off the HOA. Stupid HOA is fining me now for my shed being to close to my wall. It's only been there for 5 years now. You can even run those gasofiers off of cowpatties. That would smell nice

I watched half of an episode. This guy says that he's growing his own food, and they have a whole little community of people, growing and canning, keeping bees and chickens, etc. He said they have no weapons. And after the apocalypse, if people come with weapons, they will share their food with them and win them over to peace.
I try not to be too cynical, but I don't think that's a very good plan. |

The Y2K scenario didn't work out for the Doomers. Now they're going to give Dec. 21, 2012 a shot. If that doesn't work, I'm sure they'll come up with something else.

Not sure if anyone noticed but Costco is now selling freeze dried & MRE camping/emergency storage food now in their stores. Their website has 10x more selection also. Great for camping when space and weight is an issue.

Watched another episode the other day. Some guy has this beautiful ranch out in California. Says he's ex-Special Forces. He has built a bunker and filled it with stuff like cereal and energy bars. He's dotted his land with spider holes. He says his after-Apocalypse plan is that he'll let invaders take his house, and then he'll come in the night and pick them off, one by one. He's really looking forward to it. He showed that he's got a closet full of homemade camo suits. They showed him wandering around his property in full camo, hiding in the bushes.

Plenty of countries have empty grocery store shelves but most people haven't experienced that before in America. The price of food will only go up so why not "invest" in some food. Got a 401k? Some stocks? Little extra cash? Only makes sense to have some paper money converted to a commodity that will only go up in $. Last edited by Meck77; 04-30-2012 at 11:36 AM.. |
