Default Vikes Draft Claiborne?

McShay reports that his suspicion is that the Vikes will go with CB Morris Claiborne, LSU. Just about every mock out there goes:

Indy/Luck (and that's sewed up as the GM announced the pick today).
Redskins/Griffin (that's about as sure a deal as Indy)
Vikes/Kalil (everybody has had the Vikes going OT)
Browns/Richardson (a gimme)
Bucs/Claiborne
Rams/Blackmon

If McShay is right and the Vikes take Claiborne, this draft hangs a quick turn right at the top. The Bucs' two biggest needs are at CB and RB. Do they take Gilmore that high? Does somebody trade up for Kalil? Is this just more disinfo? Are the Vikes trying to stir up some trade down activity?

This is what the draft is all about; Last minute bull****.

What do the draftniks think?

It wouldn't surprise me if the Vikings drafrt Claiborne, going up against Rogers, Stafford and Cutler twice a year, plus, Jennings, Johnson and Marshall. I know the Vikings need lineman but they could patch a line together.

1. Vikings #1 need (by consensus) is OT.

2. The draft is thin at OT (especially left tackle)

3. The draft is deep at cornerback.

QED, the Vikings take Kalil, unless they can trade down (which is what they really want)

I'm wondering if the Rams won't try and trade up there and grab Trent Richardson (if they can get a deal for SJ)? Fisher loves him some RB. Given that they are willing to publicly talk about trading SJ, they must be having some problem with him.

Richardson is a very good back, put it just makes no sense to take him in the first 10 picks. You could trade down twice, pick up two second rounders, and pick up Doug Martin, David Wilson, AND Lamar Miller for the same price....

I think Trent Richardson is on a whole different level from those guys. He's the only RB in this draft that you could actually build an offense on, which is what Fisher likes to do. The rest are all committee type backs.

I wonder what the Browns would do if this scenario unfolded? Probably take Blackmon. Of course, they could take Tannehill and mess up every board in the league.

Richardsho is a top 3 player in this draft. Between him and the next RB is a WIDE gap imo

The more I think about it, the more I think this is going to happen. The Redskins gave the Rams a ****load of ammo to trade with. The Vikes want to trade down. Fisher LOVES his RBs. It's like a perfect storm. If the Rams trade SJ for less than he's worth, that's the signal.

The Vikings want to trade down. No reason to take a corner that high when they run the Tampa/Cover 2. They could get a guy like Casey H. in the late second or early third and he would be perfect for them. Plenty of good zone guys at CB this year.

TB changed staff this year and I seriously doubt they keep Tampa 2 system. It's out of date as a base defense....

honestly it wouldn't surprise me to see the Vikes take Richardson. but if i were a betting man i say Blackmon

my thought process for RB is this, figure even if AP gets back in time for the regular season, he isn't going to be back to 100%. and more than likely from now on will split carries with another back to take pressure off. with a young QB, you want to lean on the running game until he is experienced as a passer. i just can't see them going into next season with Gerhart as the immediate ackup to Peterson.

Philly swaps with Jax and TB swaps with Minny are the current trade rumors

Kalil is not worth a top 3 pick. It'll be Claiborne. I always thought it would be.

Minnesota's secondary made Tebow look like he could pass. They NEED an infusion of talent. There are OTs like Massie and Adams that will be there for them in round 2.
