I was researching the ELCAs position on pornography, and I came across this... weird.

As Dom would say: it's fake. You can tell by the pixels.

Actually, I've been to that site before. It's pretty hilarious.

You should read the premise of the site, and then some of the "bible stories." She takes a lot of stories and makes them quite literal. It's.. great.

Well, if nothing else, she needs a better editor. According to the story above, the son had sex with his dad instead of his brother's wife.

Note at the bottom you see an ad saying "Would you go back to school if you qualified for a grant . . . ." How ironic.

I feel I have to hold off on this one. The pixels tell no tales, in this case.

Onan might just need to keep his pixels in his pants.

I'm not going to get into a theological debate about this one, but the NIV (New International Version) has a much better translation without the word "spermies" - WTF is right.

In early cultures, it was natural to carry on family lines by "filling in" for a dead brother. Anyway, this is a better translation, but it doesn't matter because Onan still got whacked (you know what I mean)...

Genesis 38:6-10
New International Version (NIV)
6 Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. 7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the LORD’s sight; so the LORD put him to death.

8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the LORD’s sight; so the LORD put him to death also.

yeah, but there's a reason not to apply this stuff to "modern life" or to take the whole thing literally, e.g. the Lord didn't really kill him.

Of course, what would Tim say.

(had to)

Just asking, but why don't you think God can (or has, or does) kill people if he wants? The Bible has plenty of this, even in the new testament. Just look in Acts 5 for the story of Ananias and Sapphira. He kilt 'em dead as doornailz! (and they deserved it).
