They couldn't risk a hold out by Charles, as he is too valuable to what their team does on offense.

Seems to be a fair deal to both sides, if you ask me.

The question is more, can they afford to sign Smith and Houston?
They can but will probably have to cut some players to keep them.

Depending what both want.

Say 11ish for Houston and 15-18 for Smith.

KCDud is on a month long ban. He's not here to post his nonsense so it looks like the thread got backed up.

Chiefs still suck though.

Must be depressing for Charles to know he's going to waste his prime and potentially his career in KC. I'm guessing the celebration after signing that contract extension was bittersweet.

Step One: sign new contract
Step Two: sabotage Peyton Manning

Personally I wonder if he doesn't get beat up bad this year and start fighting nagging injuries. Reids entire O is based around dumping it off to him or running him into the ground. We saw how that worked with TD after a couple years.

We are playing very physical teams this year in the NFC. Glad to see he got paid for taking kFc to the playoffs last year.

Report: Marshawn Lynch ending holdout

Posted by Josh Alper on July 31, 2014, 3:39 PM EDT
Marshawn Lynch
AP
It looks like Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has decided not to be all about that holdout, boss.

Adam Schefter and Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Lynch is expected to end his holdout in the next 24 hours and report to work with the Seahawks.

Per the report, Lynch will not be receiving a new deal from the Seahawks to replace the two years he has left on his current pact or any added money. He will be receiving “financial concessions” on his current deal, however. Those concessions are not spelled out, but could involve the Seahawks waiving the nearly $500,000 in fines that Lynch has accrued during his absence from the team.

Lynch’s return should allow the Seahawks to return to business as usual on offense, although there’s a chance that Christine Michael will see more time in the backfield this season as Seattle begins to plan for a future without Beast Mode

Apparently they're pretending this is all because Jamaal Charles is so good. They're trying to justify to themselves by believing Charles is going to just break everyone else's ankles too.

They really are obsessed with the Broncos. That or he's from the future and he sees us letting Welker leave at he end of his contract.

Makes no sense, I thought Welker said he wanted a Superbowl ring?

He does, and he'll get it with the Broncos this year. Then after he's washed up, he'll go for the money and sign with the chiefs.

Thought this was relevant to the thread:

The past few years I have bought almost a dozen Broncos/Chiefs tickets in Arrowhead through KC/Ticketmaster for friends and family. Because of this, I have had a Chiefs season ticket rep emailing me at least weekly, and even occasionally calls. They are HURTING to move tickets. At last check, there are 10 THOUSAND Broncos@Cheifs tickets on stuhub, compared to only 2,000 Chiefs@Broncos. Not selling out games, massive ticket dumps in secondary market... Not a good combination for a team coming off a playoff season!

For anyone who has never made the trip East for Broncos/Chiefs, I highly encourage you do so. It is always fun seeing a sea of blue and orange. 2012 was especially fun. Orange, blue and red empty seats. KC sure does suck.

You forgot to add that the ones who do manage to get their Camero's to start and go to the game usually leave by the 3rd quarter.

Steve Gregory has announced his retirement.

Gregory, 31, signed with Kansas City last month, but no longer wants to continue his playing career. The ex-Chargers and Patriots safety had 357 tackles, seven interceptions, and three sacks over eight seasons. The Chiefs will move forward with Jerron McMillian and 2013 UDFA Malcolm Bronson as their backup safeties. Gregory is expected to pursue coaching opportunities.
