Ha there's a difference between a backup QB and an entire team of backups.

Good luck without Whisenhunt. Huge loss for ya'll

Good riddance to Whisenhunt. Not that he was horrible but I wouldn't say he was great either. I think he was holding the offense back last year. Look at his playcalling in the playoff game against the Broncos. It was like that the whole year and while you can get away with that against lesser teams, it didn't work against a team like the Broncos.

Really?

I thought SD's O improved a lot with him calling plays. They have one WR and a marginal RB yet he was able to find ways to keep drives moving and put together a great game plan to beat Denver at home, the only AFC West team to beat Denver since Manning came to town.

I think he will be missed greatly, you better hope your talent and depth are better this year than last.

I think it was the new system rather than the playcalling. The system is going to remain intact but with a new OC. Reich is an unproven playcaller though so who knows how that will work out.

Rivers became a great deep passer but his game in college was the quick accurate short passing game. Norv was not flexible in changing up his offense to fit Rivers, especially when Vincent Jackson left and the o-line couldn't hold up for seven step drops all day long. It was only one year but McCoy seems to understand that flexibility is needed for the system to fit the personnel that is on the team.

Kansas City has never, ever, ever drafted a QB who played in a pro-bowl.

Ever.*

I'd have to look into it further, but I don't think any KC drafted QB has ever won a playoff game either. The only time KC even made the playoffs behind a home-grown QB was in 1986, when Todd Blackledge led them to a 35-15 defeat to the Jets.

*note: not counting roger Staubach, who was drafted by KC and DAL back whne the AFL and NFL competed. He never played for KC.

mCcoy understands how to use what he has. Most coaches make the players fit their schemes but mCcoy wins by playing to the strength of his players. He eeked out what 6 wins with Timmy because he didn't try to make him a drop back passer.

That said continuity is a good thing to have in the NFL and trading proven coaches for 1st timers usually equates to some growing pains.

well, this isn't as cool of a stat as I thought. Broncos have only drafted 2 QB's all time who have played in the pro-bowl, 1x each, and only 1 QB to play in the pro-bowl as a Bronco.

I'm also seeing just one QB who was drafted by and won a playoff game as a Bronco, so there's a nice little feather in Tebow's hat.

Yeah, but the Pro Bowl is worthless.

A lot fatter. Starts with the head coach and filters to the players.

I guess the Chiefs are not sold on Hali or Houston.

Tamba showed up 20 lbs overweight last Friday. And he's 31 this year. And the Chiefs save $9 million dollars by cutting Tamba after this season is over.

Makes sense.

Passed on Bridgewater and Carr for Dee Ford... it was a safe pick for sure but I still like pointing out all the QBs kc has passed on in the draft over the years.

Which is funny because we spent all last season listening to you and Bob tell us how great they were and how that was the reason why the Broncos won in Arrowhead, because Hali and Houston were injured. Funny how things change.

I was surprised they passed on Marqis Lee. Longterm, it might be a decent pick for KC, but hard to see it really helping them next year

It's a very deep WR class so it makes perfect sense to pass on Lee.

I think he definitely helps next year. The Chiefs were owning San Diego 14-3 midway through the 2nd quarter last year. Then Tamba and Houston get hurt and they score 38 ****ing points.

Pass rush is vital to the NFL nowadays, especially when Peyton Manning and Phillip Rivers are in your division.

Also gives the Chiefs a replacement for Tamba which will give us $9 million dollars next offseason. Good business move IMO.

His back scares me though.

Should have drafted Bridgewater or another QB. Alex Smith played above his head last year but he's never going to take that team to the promise land.

No thanks. JFF fell because he won't be a leader in any locker room and he's a punk. Bridgewater fell for a reason too. He barely made it in the first round.

I think Chiefs could draft Aaron Murray tomorrow if he's there. QB is likely somewhere this weekend IMO.
