Just to stir the pot a little, how many people think that Manning will play at a higher level longer than Charles does?

Denver is better, only because of Manning. That's literally it.
I had to re read his post to make sure he didn't say Denver first. Your post makes more sense now. You can say that about a lot of teams with great QBs. Hell even most teams. You think KC goes to the playoffs if smith went down early in the season?

That's not the point. Manning hides A LOT of your weaknesses. The AFC didn't have an elite defense like SF, CAR or SEA and they exposed that weakness.

The OL, RB's, WR's and even the defense all look much better because of Manning.

They also won the division(and playoff game) with arguably the worst QB I've ever seen. The purpose of a great QB is to elevate his players. Nothing wrong with that.

And when Manning is gone, you won't have anything remotely close to his impact.

How do you know? You don't know who will be throwing. I sure don't. Manning is a one of a kind. I'm not worried about them trying to find the next manning. Their next longterm could be a QB who isn't old enough to drink yet. Some one completely different.

Fact is before manning the team was competitive over the years(aside from one 4 win season). After manning I expect the same thing

It's always a silly argument to say "yeah, they are only better because..."

It's better or not better...the why makes no difference. On the flip side I bet there's a dozen reasons why KC is worse.

No, Denver is better because they are Denver. Denver > KC. This is a law of nature.

Sounds like what would happen if Charles went down.

Crappy "Dominant D" wouldn't be able to play with a lead as we saw in the playoffs. WR's dropping more passes because there is no quality RB depth to run the ball, bad 3rd down (except on 3rd and 9) play forces more 3 and outs, more turnovers because teams will press up on the short ball causing an inconsistent deep ball thrower to throw more picks, bad OL will give up tons of sacks. Teams will sit on that under drag route Reid likes to run 30 times a game...it would be a blood bath.

kFc has the better punter though.

2-3.

KC has a lot of their peak players only having a few years left.

Hali maybe 2.
Bowe maybe 2, uncuttable until 3-4 years.
Flowers, maybe cap casualty next offseason.
Charles, 2-3.
Derrick Johnson, 32 or 33, maybe 2 more good years.

And that leaves KC with, Poe/Berry/Houston, and Alex?

You missed the part where we scored 44 points in a playoff game without him.

Are you really this stupid?

that has nothing to do with the offenses production without Jamaal Charles.

what's the over/under on KC's 2014 1st round pick staying with the team that drafted him before they realize it's a bust? 2.5 years?

Whoever we get to replace Manning, he will probably be better than Alex Smith.

Couple years. Guy is a stud, will be going 1st in everyone's fantasy draft. KC will run him into the ground though.

That's something Smith tacitly acknowledged Thursday in a news conference with reporters in Salt Lake City. Smith, who is to deliver the commencement address at his alma mater, the University of Utah, acknowledged he's aware the Chiefs and Broncos will play one of their two annual games early in the season, on Sept. 14 in Denver.

The teams will also play one another in late November at Arrowhead Stadium.

"I certainly want to beat him," Smith said. "That's for sure and twice a year, hopefully. That's the goal.

"The wins are the most important thing. I'm not necessarily worried about all that other stuff. I think it just kind of comes with time and doing things the right way and working hard. For me, it's just trying to get the [win]. I'd love to get that over him. We came up short twice last year. But the great thing is we get a couple of more opportunities this year and one of them early. That's definitely the focus.

"In that sense, it's a little surreal because he's a guy I grew up watching as well. My first career start was against him. It's been fun to compete against him over the years. Now as I'm older I'm less caught up in that, I guess, and I look forward to taking him down."
