Wow the KC OL is going to be patchwork. On the bright side San Diego's OL last year was supposed to be patchwork and turned out to be decent.

The strength of the Chiefs, their OL gets decimated in Free Agency. Bad day to be a Chiefs fan. Their best year in the last 20, and everybody leaves because they know they have no chance.

Too bad they don't get to play backup QB's for the first 10 games this year.

Saw a retweet (that has since been taken down) from arrowhead pride bragging about their offensive line versus the raiders when Charles scored 5 TDs which consisted of: Stephenson, Allen, Hudson, Schwartz and Fisher.

Yea, good luck with that line playing teams not named Oakland, considering the best name of those 5 no longer players in KC. !

well, they did spend the #1 overall pick on Fisher. So they got that going for them.

We won't know that until the season starts, between facing 2nd and 3rd stringers (who kFc fans fooled themselves into thinking were harder to face because there was no tape on them!) they lucked into facing Tony Romo when he was giving games away. They won't be that lucky this year.

They made a great move bringing in Reid, he stabilized the QB position, then Reid built a low risk offense based on ball control and centered around Charles. They built a D based on an above average pass rush with 2 pass rushers who thought Pass rush 1st and run 2nd. Their pass rush covered their issues in the secondary at multiple CB positions and safety. Throw in the fact that they protected the ball and their D forced turnovers and the fact that they were lucky (which was helped by playing good base fundamental football) and you have a team that made the Wildcard round of the playoffs.

However this year they have a QB who the whole league knows is inaccurate with his deep ball, a #1 WR who drops way too many balls and cannot get deep and an RB that was over worked at times last year to the point where they had to work on getting him less touches in games ending with a knee injury in the playoffs.

They are Cap strapped and now without a 2nd round pick since the 2nd pick for Smith was moved up from a 3rd to a 2nd because they won 8 games.

Going to be hard to improve the team when you can't spend money in FA and you have a late 1st day pick, nothing on day 2 then late picks in each of the later rounds.

They need OL starters and depth, an explosive WR, another RB, 2 CB's, Safety, a TE who can control the middle of the field.

I think this is a down year for them as they try to add young depth players that can win in 2-3 years after Manning retires while they try to stick around and win now via their ball control O and oppourtunistic (sp?) D.

This isn't a team built to go deep in the playoffs for a while yet but that is nothing new to kFc fans.

I'd say the defensive front 7 was their strength. Felt it was a mediocre pass protect offensive line that likely got considerably worse. The Chiefs situation is why you don't overpay for Dwayne Bowe and Sean Smith. Brandon Flowers also likely overpaid.

On the bright side, at least they didn't spend the #1 pick on a right tackle.

As a Chiefs fan it's hard to argue with any of this thread. We bring in Lickin-balls and that's an answer? !

I saw a reference post that said we're a QB and WR, or a QB and an HC away from competing in a playoff game.. , no! We're an owner away from anything. Far too many people give our owner a pass because he doesn't play in the game. I'm not sure if it's his not living in KC, the Chiefs not being anything close to his first love/job, or if it's just that his whole family is nothing more than money-grubbing clowns, but one thing's for sure, they can't make enough of an effective football move, or moves, to do anything. Much like the Royals and an owner there who comes from a company that's all about profit, the Chiefs suffer the same problem.

For one Chiefs fan, this is going to be a year to miss. I'm really not sure I'll watch the games much less go to any.

The good news is, the sun will rise tomorrow.
