This is the NFL's "example" punishment for the other 31 teams. They're basically saying this stuff ends right now. I bet they are able to appeal this in some measure to get some of the games back, but wow. Armageddon for the Saints.

They had to make a strong statement, IMO. Just can't have that in Professional sports. That's just too lowdown and dirty to let it go with a slap on the wrist.

I think they maybe give him a couple years and threaten that any offenses after this point (for anyone) will be lifetime.

If they set a precedent for lifetime, the league could get ugly because you know stuff like this was going on elsewhere.

That's exactly what it is. I was expecting a 4 game suspension for Sean Peyton, maybe a 100K fine. I was expecting something similar for Williams, but maybe a bigger fine. I thought they'd lose a 3rd rounder.

This is the NFL stepping on a franchise's throat to put an end to something that has been going on in locker-rooms since before there were face-masks.
