did anyone listen to the Tom Jackson interview on KOA850?? supposedly said that Denver is still the favorite and in addition to watching Manning throw....they talked contract terms and everything went well.

I'm not worried about SF. They don't have the cap space to get this done.

I dont think he was lying, I think he expected either SF or Houston to make an early bid, neither of which happened. I think he would have signed right away if Houston had brought him in.

Keep in mind, he and his agent probably had gone over all those scenarios in advance and needed another plan if it didn't work out with one of those teams. He really didnt have much to choose from until the Titans mucked up the works, but now that one of his preferred destinations is in the hunt, I don't see anyway he doesn't go there.

Doesn't seem like it. It would stand to reason that SF is using Manning against Alex Smith, and Condon is using SF against Den and Ten. Where this theory is weak is that Condon apparently reps both Manning and Smith...

That's exactly the way I see it. I think it's a ruse. And if it isn't, why aren't they on a plane to NC?

Not only does SF not have the space to guarantee an injured old QB some cash, but even an incentive laced contract would screw up their very real SB chances in the following years. A big sell out for one shot with such a young talented team.

You have delusions of grandeur. On a talent scale, the 49ers are a 9. Denver is a 5.

Who said anything about talent? This is about cap space. The Niners wouldn't appear to have nearly enough to match what Den or Ten can do.

Well, Elway has his template if needed. Replace "Kolb" and "Skelton" with Tebow....

5:10 pm Cardinals official statement regarding their failed attempt at Manning: "...acquiring Peyton Manning is no longer an option for us..Since the end of last season, we made it very clear that our plan was to head into 2012 with Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, let the process play out and like at every position go with the quarterback who gives us the best chance to win...Obviously something very unique and unexpected presented itself."

Is this the part where you tell me that if everything would have been perfect for the Chiefs, they'd have won the division and gone on to the Superbowl? (instead of finishing in last place and losing their best player to free agency?)

No it's not. I'm sure Manning would take relatively the same amount to play for a real contender.

Nice deflection.

If this is truly about money SF isn't a real candidate. But if there's even the slightest bit of interest on Manning's part of winning another SB, he's headed to SF.

Or he could play in Denver and risk his neck behind that terrible OL, throwing to no names. Tough decision.

So by your definition Chiefs aren't contenders... Good to know how you really feel.
