If Denver are lucky enough to get Manning and they want to add more players to make a run this year and next, then there is plenty of caproom for that. I've said all along it's a cash issue and whether Bowlen is prepared to release the kind of money needed for an instant push.

Denver could do Manning's deal for around $10m in cap this season, leaving them still $35m to add more players. It's entirely up to them how they work that part of it as long as Peyton gets the money he needs now. The 5 year contract in reality will only be 2-3 years but it also allows the team who signs him to spread the signing bonus hit over more years. It'll cost them capwise in year 4 if he only lasts 3 in dead caproom but I dont think we'll be looking 4 years ahead right now.
As far as I know the new CBA makes signing bonuses all effective against the cap the year they are spent...
I could be wrong...but thats why gurantees are so high this year . Haven't seen much in signing bonuses. The guarantees are spread out, I believe, over the contract. whatever is paid in a year goes against the cap that year.

This is just Twitter at this point. Nothing official. You have to remember that Twitter travels faster than any other media.

It seems like its all or nothing right now.

We either A)- have him locked up and inked and dont need to see him throw, weather he flies back to DEN with us or signed a deal there

or

B) is not going to sign with us and we packed our **** and are flying home to get on with the rest of the football world.

You are wrong Scott, that was for one uncapped year only, under the new CBA if it's a signing bonus it is spread over the length of the contract up to a max of the first 5 years.

This was supposed to be a workout in an indoor facility where I assume they don't allow the student newspaper kid. How do they know he didn't throw a pass?

If Manning was committed to not turning this into a circus, and favored Denver but was doing his due diligence and meeting obligations; isn't this what it would look like when he was about to sign with us?

It is Duke. Evidence suggests they don't keep many footballs around on that campus.

at least if nothing happens with manning hopefully today won't be 100% pointless.

Vic Lombardi ‏ @VicLombardi

Again, they have at least one other FA ready to sign. Waiting for group to return to Denver. Details later.

According to the guys from Duke...Manning arrived this morning with a convoy of about 15 people.....

That's a lot of people for a pitch and catch

Van and Expedition.......scratch that Escalade (big ballers)

The Duke goes to Duke University and doesn't bring "The Duke".

This can't be. There is no way they can make it back with time to work with other FAs...

Maybe they cut the meeting short to go see the other FA!
