Where are you calculating $12 million a year? Your math doesn't add up.

$60 million minus a $30 million signing bonus is $30 million. Divide that by 5 and you get $6 million. Peyton only figures to play for 3 of those years.


Year 1: $36 million ($30 million plus $6 million)
Year 2: $42 million
Year 3: $48 million

$48 million divided by 3 is $16 million. This is a great starting negotiation point if you're trying to keep the number below $20 million a year. I expect it will finish more in this territory:

$70 million with a $30 million signing bonus

Year 1: $38 million
Year 2: $46 million
Year 3: $54 million

That would amount to $18 million a year. NOBODY is looking at year 4 & 5 in this deal.
