Yup and it's stated by the wining SB teams that some sort of luck is always needed...

Just got confirmation that the Broncos are still in contract talks with Peyton Manning's camp today and are much further along.

While the Broncos are in talks with Manning, hopefully they have more in store and talking to other players too. I am not that thrilled they wasted some time with Meriweather to start things out. Get some serious players please.

I was just thinking the same thing. Manning will/would make a great executive if he wanted that kind of job.

Just don't let him run a meeting. He'd keep changing the agenda on the fly and nobody would have a clue how to prepare for any meeting beforehand.

Damn it, now you've said the only thing that might make me reconsider. You must work in sales.

Ok Peyton.. This is your chance for forgiveness. I will forgive you for being a traitor and not going to Ole Miss if you sign with the Broncos. Oh this wait is killing me.

Yeah, I have to admit that Elway either has nerves of steel or really doesn't care one way or another. He is definitely one cool customer.

Who wants a "cool customer" on one of the few weeks of the year he actually has a ****ing job to do?

I don't want a "cool customer". I want someone working their ass off making this team better.

"Nerves of steel" or "clearly doesn't give a ****"?

Neither Elway, nor Fox, nor Xanders, nor $50 million ****ing dollars can get a player on a plane. How freaking pitiful.

None of this would have mattered it we had made a slam dunk offer before Adams and Tenn got interested.

For the record, I am glad we didn't break the bank, but I would have been a hell of a lot more productive today if we had.

this sounds like grade a panic mode over nothing. even without a hand shake deal Manning is the type who could get into an exec role for a NFL franchise. he's like a mini one now and something tells me he might envision himself doing for the Colts what Elway is doing for the Broncos. being the VP and getting the team back to the playoffs and beyond.
