I'm rooting for the Orioles to win this game. |

Orioles/Yankees will be a great series to watch.
Go Orioles, beat the Yankees. The Orioles are one of those teams that I always want to do see well. The Tigers are my team, but there a couple of teams that I'll root for to play well. The Orioles and Rockies are those teams. I used to be a big fan of Cal Ripken Jr. and Eddie Murray when I was a kid. I also was a huge George Brett fan, but don't have any attachment to the Royals. I like to see the Rox do well because of having lived in Colorado. I had some good times going to Rox games over the years. It sucked seeing them lose 98 games this season....2 losses away from the shameful 100 loss mark. Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 10-06-2012 at 12:20 AM.. |

The Tigers and the A's play in the other series.
The A's are on a roll right now....I'm hoping their youth and inexperience costs them on the big stage....but that youthful energy can also benefit them. |

![]() i hated them during their Canseco/Stewart/Henderson/LaRussa years. not because they were good, but because they were jerks. but these A's, i don't mind so much. the Oakland Coliseum used to be a really nice place to catch an afternoon game, before they added all that crap in to lure Al Davis back from LA. it completely ruined the ballpark. look at before and after photos and you'll see what i mean. one nice thing about the A's games is that the Raiders morons are nowhere to be found. it's actually a family environment there for baseball (at least when i would go during the 90's). the A's always struck me as drawing a blue collar crowd, whereas the Giants draw the yuppies and bandwagoners who don't know much about baseball, but go because it's the "place" to be seen. kinda like the 49ers in their heyday. sorta like the difference between White Sox and Cubs fans. If the A's make it to the World Series, I'll be rooting hard for them to win it all, as it would be a great story.

The Tigers beat Oakland 3-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Justin Verlander gave up a leadoff HR to Coco Crisp and then shut down the A's from that point on. 7 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 ER, 4 BB, and 11 Ks. It was important for the Tigers to go out there and take this game at home with their ace on the mound. |

That's who the Red Sox fired at the end of last season.
They hired Bobby Valentine to replace him. The Red Sox sucked this season and they kicked Valentine to the curb a few days ago, after only one season at the helm. |

It will be interesting to see what Boston does. There's something corrosive on that team. When players are resistent and Pedroia comes out and says they have a way of doing things in Boston, one only needs to look at what happened the year before when the players got Francona fired. If Pedroia liked the old way, the players shouldn't have got Francona fired by choking. It's a roster of whining crybabies. Management often brings in someone completely different as a replacement. But where Boston is concerned, the problems that they were trying to address by bringing in Valentine still exists.

Ok, gotcha. I heard there is someone they want to replace Valentine, someone they thought they should have taken last year over Valentine.

DENVER -- Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy resigned Sunday, stepping down after the team set a franchise record for losses.
The Rockies said a search for Tracy's replacement would begin immediately. Colorado finished last in the NL West this year while going 64-98. |

The Tigers won 5-4 today....not a very pretty win, but they all look good in the playoffs.
It was huge for them to win their 2 home games. |

The Giants beat the Reds today 6-4 to storm back and take that series in 5 games.
The Nats beat the Cards today 2-1 to even that series up 2-2. The Yankees and Orioles are getting underway right now, with the Yankees up in the series 2-1. The Tigers and A's are tied up 2-2 and play Game 5 tonight at Oakland. Justin Verlander takes the mound for Tigers. Hope JV can go 9 innings tonight, as I don't think I'm ready for Jose Valverde in another save situation after last night. Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 10-11-2012 at 05:36 PM.. |
