It isnt like he has only batted 100 times. He has qualified for the batting title. His slump of .280 since August 1st isn't a bad slump compared to Trumbo's slump. You cannot compare a bonafide leadoff hitter to a guy that is batting 3rd to 5th in the order. On many clubs, Trout could bat 3rd to 5th. Cabrera is no way going to bat 1st.

SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Roger Clemens pitched 4 2-3 scoreless innings for Sugar Land of the independent Atlantic League with his oldest son Koby catching him on Friday night against Long Island.
The seven-time Cy Young winner pitched a perfect first inning before getting his only strikeout when he caught Brandon Sing looking to start the second. The first hit was a two-out single by Matt Esquivel in the second. Clemens retired the side in the third and allowed one hit -- a single -- in the fourth. He retired the first two in the fifth before hugging his son and heading to the dugout. Clemens, who finished with 54 pitches, including 33 strikes, threw 3 1-3 scoreless innings in his first start for the Skeeters last month. |

Tigers and the Angels start a 3 game series tonight.
Getting to that point in the season where all these games are important. |

Kansas City does Detroit a favor and beats the White Sox 7-5.
Detroit needs to take care of business....they are tied up 2-2 with the Angels in the 5th inning. |

Detroit starting pitcher Max Scherzer now has 10 straight starts with at least 8 Ks.
Scherzer and Verlander keep going back and forth every start taking over the major league lead in strikeouts. Scherzer has 212 Ks on the season and is still pitching tonight. Verlander has 209 Ks on the season. |

Wow, we got bailed out again by Detroit losing. Memo to team, beat the ****ing Royals and you would have had a 2 game lead, morons!

Then they lost 2 of 3 games to the Indians in the series after they swept the White Sox. The 2012 Detroit Tigers are a very unpredictable team. I could very easily see them choke on their ***** and fall apart down the stretch....and I could very easily see them get hot and pull away from the White Sox. I don't have a gut feeling one way or the other. The 4 game series against your White Sox starting on Monday is going to be huge and will be the last time we face each other in the regular season. Angels win in the bottom of the 9th. SSJ forgot to tell you all that Santana had 10Ks tonight . I will let Detroit have the pretty stats and I will take the wins. Weaver was supposed to pitch today but has stiff arm I believe. Verlander will be tough but these are all like playoff games. Angels jump over Detroit for the wild card spot and are only now 2 games out. Still have to be afraid of the Rays. Bastards hit a HR to win it tonight.

You can pimp your team's stats....that's not my job.
I'd rather have the win than the stats, but they didn't get the job done tonight. When I posted that tidbit on Scherzer, the game was still tied up 2-2. It wasn't any fault of his they lost, he pitched well. I always post that I hate playing the Angels....they are a tough team and bad match up for the Tigers. They better win at least one of the next two games in the series....and not be looking ahead at the 4 game series coming up next versus the White Sox. |

Verlander is getting his dick kicked in the first inning against the Angels.
4-0 and the first inning isn't over yet. Come on Detroit, pull your head out of your asses. |

If leadoff hitters had their own triple crown, Trout would have it. Leads the Al in batting with a .329 (.001 ahead of Cabrera) Leads the AL in stolen bases (46?) Leads the AL in runs scored (111 and blowing that one away by 25 or so) A's won so that blew but wild card getting tighter and just as tough since O's and Yanks are now tied for the division lead. |

Detroit is probably going to need to win the division if they want to make the playoffs.
The American League Wild Card race is ridiculously competitive. |

White Sox top Detroit 4-1 with a Rio's 3 run shot in the 6th and AJ's 26th homer of the season.

Hopefully Peavy gets more than 2 runs of support tomorrow, I doubt it though, he hasn't gotten any all season.

With the talent the Tigers have, it's a damned shame. Someone needs to be held accountable if this team doesn't make the playoffs. |

The Tigers rally with 2 big wins in a row in Chicago, after losing the opener in the series.
Doug Fister and Max Scherzer with back to back solid outings. Max Scherzer is 16-6 on the season and leads the majors in strikeouts with 220. |

Derek Jeter tied Willie Mays on baseball's all-time hits list and cracked the top 10 with a seventh-inning single Thursday night against the Red Sox, the 3,283rd of his career.

Prince Fielder is rolling up on 100 RBIs for the season....98 RBIs right now.
Nice first season with the Tigers: Hasn't missed a game, 29 doubles, 26 HRs, 98 RBIs, and a .306 average. Watching him all season, I've been impressed with his ability as more than a power hitter....he will take what the pitcher gives him and take a single up the middle. That said, it's sweet to watch him bat when he really gets into one, as he puts everything into it. He and his old man both knock/knocked the cover off the ball. |

Detroit pitcher Anibal Sanchez had a no-hitter with 2 outs in the 7th inning broken up.
Tigers are still up 5-0 in the game. |

Miggy with a 3 run HR (38th) to give the Tigers a 6-5 lead over the Indians.
