Default Art Donovan dead at 89

Former Marine, Colts legend, and NFL Hall of Famer Art Donovan who made several appearances on Letterman, and said he played football when it the majority of players were oversized miners and psychopaths from West Texas died Sunday at age 89

Rest in peace!

Always loved hearing him talk about the 50s football game and of course his flat top haircut that he was sporting as an old fart.

Loved watching Art every time I saw him, one of the reasons I have read up on the early days of the NFL.

He will be missed.

RIP

Damn I thought he was dead years ago.

He once told a story about how in the army he loved spam, he fought in Korea I believe, He stole a whole case of spam and got caught. The officer that caught him assumed he was stealing it to sell. Donovan told him that he was going to eat it. The officer told him if he ate the whole case he wouldn't turn him in. He said he loved every minute of it!!

Seems anytime they have the old NFL Films, they always interviewed Donavan. I am sure it was probably done all at once as he just rambled on with those great stories. The one (or two or more) on Unitas were epic and I believe the '59 Championship one was great.
