just goes to show that salary doesn't always equate to performance, in the NFL or other places. e.g.
Stephen J Hemsley, United Health Group CEO 2011 salary $102M. (wonder how much of that was made off of sick and dying people?) |

Probably not much. In fact, he probably lost money off the sick and dying, those kind of people cost health insurance companies money. Most was probably made off the the premiums of people who didn't use their insurance, or used it very little.

It's a stupid piece considering only one or two of the players on NFL.com's list is not still on their rookie contract. It's like the best 1st NFL contract team.

Most insurance comapnies cap what they pay on most procedures or visits.. SO lots of that was indeed on the sick and dying.. |

:focus: Anyone add up the total dollar value. On that team? But as someone commented. Lots of rookie contracts there, which is the way to build the foundations of your team. Something that was lost on mikey, but thankfully John E has seen the light. Consistent Drafting getting quality on day one while finding "finds" like our all rookie team cb that was un-drafted. If we can find 3-4 starter quality guys every year for the next couple of drafts and then resign the keepers. By that I mean the ones with leadership, are team players, and guys that are not money grubbing morons. If you are getting 2-3 starting guys each draft that means they push the existing guys into being better players and IF the vets get wandering eyes and want money we can no longer afford they are expendable. As we already have someone on the shelve to replace them. Those draftees can keep us in the playoffs and consistent winners for a long time. While they may not start day one they should be able to do so by year three (DL, CB, WR) seem to take time to be ready more so than others. That is unless you are getting top ten picks year after year. Then IMO it is more a coaching issue than talent. Or if the coach is not the problem it is the GM. But more often it is failure of the HC.. In mikeys case late in his career here the coaching was stale and his entire stay the player aquistions were at best questionable. Of his day one picks (1-3) only FIVE of the 45+ picks only resigned after their rookie contracts expired and a couple of those five resigned early Pryce, greise and Wilson. IMO only Wilson was worth the money he got. With the other two being vastly over paid for being a consistent player. Even in his last few years Wilson was not great tackler. Mostly because of all the broken bones in his hands. Let's get back to great drafts. Like the last few. |
