Default Looking for a Jeep or used 4X4 -- any members selling or know of a deal?

Anyone in the Denver/High Rockies area that knows about a good 4X4 for sale? Looking for a used SUV for a good price. Really into old school Jeep Cherokees. If anyone has a link or information, please post or PM. Thank yoU!

I have a 92 Cherokee, love that vehicle but not for sale and I don't imagine you would want to come to Eastern Montana

$4,000 tops since I'll be doing all cash. I'm envious of Schaaf because I've been looking for early 90s Cherokee's. I've seen some decent offers on Craigslist, but I don't want something that has 250k on it.

Give me a pm offline, Req and let me know what exactly you are after/what you are going to do with it. I'd also recommend getting onto Jeepforum.com and looking into the XJ ('84-'01 Cherokee) Technical and Non-Tech Forums to find out what to look for/avoid in a used one. Very helpful bunch of folks on there (one of the best Forums I've ever been a member of, and they have dealt with EVERYTHING you can run into...with instructions, photos, and part numbers to make your job so much easier). Remember that Jeep stands for: Just Empty Every Pocket (not because they are crap...it is just that you will never be done "tweaking" them)! Big difference on what is available from $4k to $5k as far as mileage goes. Also huge difference getting away from snow country in Feb. That alone could save you 1k on the same vehicle. (Quick note: Learned to drive in a '77 Jeep Wagoneer, first vehicle '78 304 V8 CJ-5, then 2 CJ-7's ('80 304 V8 W/Dana 300 Transfer case, and '84 258 I6 w/Dana 300), then an '01 TJ that I still have (120k and getting better with age, wish I could replace my worn out parts as trick and easy as it is with the Heap).

Start here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f177/...e-read-934394/

and here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/t...ks-tsbs-89273/

Great info on these.

Real old school Cherokees walked from Georgia to Oklahoma, but that is besides the point, I guess.

BTW, anyone else watch Trucks and Extreme 4x4 on Spike? They are my 4 year son's favorite non cartoon shows.

I do think if I see them breakdown another transmission I will likely wake up from an Ambien stupor to find I have rebuilt the one on the wife's SUV.

That's about 2:30 hours from me, but that's not too far if there's a good deal.

Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em. I almost bought one, but picked up my CJ5 instead. Our family had good history with the owner of the CJ5 (Dad coached little league FBall & BBall with him), and he took great care of the Jeep. I sure wanted that CJ8, though. I will say, after 30 years of Jeep ownership I really enjoy the TJ (01 Wrangler). I only wish they would have brought out the "Unlimited" (or LJ...Long Jeep) version and the "Rubicon" package sooner, as that would have been perfect for our needs. Basically, the LJ Wrangler Unlimited was the CJ8 of that era (03-06). Just with full coverage of the tub.

Any luck tracking down an XJ yet, Req? I did some looking around last night on Craigslist and Autotrader, then did a Bing search. Found a whole bunch near me that were late 90's to early 2000's for under $4k, then I noticed that they were all 4x2's! Two wheel drive Cherokees? I didn't even know there was such an animal. I did see a couple of decent looking ones down in the Castle Rock and Colorado Springs areas. Don't worry about the milage being around 200K. Those 258 I6s will run forever. Suspension, brakes, and rust/cancer on or around the frame would be my chief concerns. If it looks like it has been wheeled hard, I'd back away from it (oversized lift kit a good indication).
